One of the core responsibilities of guild members within Bottlecap Bay is to complete quests from the Questboard. Located in the center of the city, the questboard is a physical board where Pokemon can submit requests for help, resources, exploration, and all sorts of things. Each quest rewards characters with points to not only increase their member ranking, but also raise the guild ranking, thereby having a direct effect on the direction of the game!

QUEST TYPES

LIGHT QUESTS
These quests are simpler, RNG-style quests that are far more straightforward and don't require a summary or a thread! Light quests are available every month, but during TDM months, they are the only type of quest available, meaning that nothing plot heavy or significant will be placed into the quests. They also typically reward 50 points to characters.

HEAVY QUESTS
Heavy quests are more intensive, thread-required quests that often hold bits of plot or more intrigue, and are only available every other month. They are also often more dangerous than light quests, and unlike light quests, are not guaranteed to be completed when submitting for them! Sometimes you can fail these heavy quests, and in that case, no points are rewarded. But depending on the results, these quests can reward anywhere from 100-300 points each!

ALL QUESTS
So what do all quests have in common? Difficulty levels, determined by the filled in stars on a scale of 1-3, with three filled stars being the most difficult. Difficulty can mean anything from physical danger to intensive puzzles, depending on the quest! All quests must also be submitted by the deadline date on the quest itself. Quests of both types can have different amounts of teams allowed to claim it, and the number of teams allowed will be listed per quest. Lastly, players can feel free to roleplay any of the NPCs that are not listed on the Locations page under the NPC section! If it's not game breaking or contradicting of anything in the information available to players, then we generally play by the "do what's most fun!" rules.

Thank you for your patience! Your group will be the first group that attempts to explore the forest, and is sent through the northern section, past the Cheri Berry guild. Due to mod delays in processing this, you have until March 13th to submit a thread. The thread does not have to be complete at this time, as long as it shows participation from all characters— you just need to let us know in summary how the characters overcome these struggles. Please assume this thread takes place in late February due to longer guild leader planning, so as not to interrupt your other plans.

It's morning when the group is sent out, but as soon as they begin to set foot further into the forest, it becomes clear that time of day hardly matters here. Daylight becomes increasingly difficult to penetrate the leaves overhead, and even the paths and foliage around them becomes more dense, oppressive and highly disorienting. The group should be careful to leave markers along the forest so as not to lose their way, as even with the bizarrely large variety of plantlife, nothing seems to stay the same. That large, unnatural vine they passed along the way might be there one minute, and gone the next, but any markers left in place along the ground will remain for the most part, even if partially obscured.

It almost feels as if... the forest itself is watching them.

The deeper they travel, the more the scenery shifts. Plants glisten or shimmer, and movement catches the corners of their vision, but it will be difficult to actually spot this movement head on. Illusion, perhaps? While Doc might be completely out of his element here with the plantlife, Ren and even Akechi might be able to notice that while some plants are familiar, other are large, morphed versions of those that they know, and others still are completely foreign. One of those foreign plants is a species of mushroom that seems to glow, helpfully lighting their path, increasing in numbers as they move deeper. Their spores begin to fill the air, causing everything within this section of the forest to feel as though it's breathing.

It's there that their teamwork better be locked in, as the forest comes to life even more than before. Oversized vines, thorny and not, snatch at ankles or wings, wrapping and curling to draw them closer almost like tentacles. Tension levels rise among the group itself, leading to arguments occurring more easily, disagreements, and even potential outbursts of violence. Aggressive Pokemon might appear from between the trees and attack, paths can be blocked, even when previously traveled down them before, and the forest around them seems to creak and groan, breathe and sigh. Any of them might be able to connect the mushrooms and their spores as the perpetrator for this aggressive behavior, both Pokemon and plantlife, but how will they, as a team, choose to deal with this challenge? Can they make it through without turning on each other?

Please fill out the unique form below sometime before the March 13th deadline so that your quest can be considered completed. Please note that you have flexibility and freedom in threading this quest and any related NPCs (aggressive Pokemon, tentacle-like vines, other plants you want to throw in, etc) and that the only important things are that the mushrooms cause aggression through their spores and grow abundantly deep into the forest. It doesn't seem to be the only thing going on inside, though, and the eerie feeling won't disappear even if all mushrooms in the area are burnt to a crisp or otherwise destroyed!

In this section of the forest, the air becomes thick and moist, and fog swirls around the thick trunks of trees and clings to the forest floor, making each step feel precarious. The two of them will have to travel carefully, as sections of the forest dip into steep and sudden declines, making the potential for injury that much more likely.

Time passes, and the fog continues to cling, as there's no sunlight to burn it off. Certain Pokemon moves can be used to try and dispel it, but it always seems to crawl back, tickling at ankles and wrapping around their bodies like the lonely caress of something living. It leaves chills, and the longer they spend in it, the more things begin to twist. Flashes of light and unfamiliar shapes take up their peripheral, vanishing when looked at directly. A sense of panic and foreboding crawls up, like something is watching them. Whispers echo between the rustling of leaves, and A.B.A seems to be particularly targeted for this. Her husband speaks sweet nothings into the spaces between trees, claiming to be lost and alone, separated and worried. He attempts to lead her towards sheer drops and plant worries in her mind about the trustworthiness of Shoka, but trying to reach him never works.

The kind of madness that can come from this is haunting and deep, and it will put a heavy strain on the mind. Support and clear communication will help, but it may become clear to Shoka that the fog is the problem. Something about it is living, and something about it wants to keep them there, winding them in circles, attempting to make them lost. Too much time spent in the fog and the forest will result in feelings of panic, frustration, sadness, anger, and eventually, potential violence and outbursts. The pair should gather the information that they can, map where they can, and leave before this grabs hold of them.

It's morning when the pair is sent out, but as soon as they begin to set foot further into the forest, it becomes clear that time of day hardly matters here. Daylight becomes increasingly difficult to penetrate the leaves overhead, and even the paths and foliage around them becomes more dense, oppressive and highly disorienting. This part of the forest is thick with fog that stays eerie and still, a dense moisture in the air feeling almost suffocating. The only movement seems to come from quick rushes of shadowy figures in the peripherals of their vision, and though they can feel the presences of other Pokemon in the area, none of them show themselves. It's as if they're all watching in silence, not wanting to interrupt.

The longer the group travels into this dense fog, the more they become disoriented. Directions become mixed, and half of the group may be sure they came from one direction already, while the other half insists that they came from the other. Strangely, this group will have the hardest time in navigating, as any markers that are left do not stay in their consistent placement, leading to even more confusion. Despite the trust that already exists between them, the fog may lead to the members of this group growing agitated with one another, no longer feeling heard, and anger rising far too easily. Just as this comes to a head, the forest seems to quake, and the very ground shifts beneath them. While Ingo and Emmet will manage to keep their footing, Emporio and Firepaw will not be so lucky. The ground gives out beneath them, tumbling them into an old cave system beneath the forest that does not hook back up to the caves beneath the city proper. This collapse results in Firepaw and Emporio both being temporarily separated from the twins. The twins can either split up and each go after Firepaw and Emporio respectively, or attempt to stick together and prioritize rescuing one of them first.

The caves are unstable and risk further collapse into even lower levels, making for an incredibly dangerous environment. To make matters worth, the fog leaks into the cave system, causing further disorientation the longer they all stay down there. And, as a last bit of trouble... the first time Firepaw is found, he's actually an impostor. At first, his mannerisms will match up with the disorientation and agitation he was already feeling in the forest above. But gradually, he will seem off, and his voice may carry blips off an unsettling tone. The moment he's realized as an impostor, the figure will fade into something ghostly and shapeless, a laugh echoing throughout the caves as it attacks the group with ghost moves and makes its escape. This particular Pokemon can be recognized as Haunter, and manages to escape.

For Firepaw, who can be found shortly after— he's been dealing with unfortunate hallucinations of some sort of a warped memory. Something that didn't quite happen, like his worst nightmare from home, or a scenario gone worse than it already had. It's up to you! Whatever it is, he's left exhausted and out of it, and may not recognize the group members at first, whether it's just one of them or all of them.

Please note that you have flexibility and freedom in threading this quest and any related NPCs (the Haunter, other mysterious Pokemon in the shadows, potential hallucinated characters from Firepaw) and that the only important things are that the fog is disorienting and causes anger and agitation, and the group deals with some sort of separation and impostor situation. If you'd all prefer to switch around how the group finds one another, how they're separated, and the choices they have to make to deal with it, that's fine! A question for folks sorting out who's going where-

When it comes to limited quests of any kind, is there a limit to how many times a character may accompany a team?

For example, one player submits for one rescue, another player submits for another, and among both teams is found the same character.

My assumption was 'no', but it seemed best to check just in case.

It's a little scary, isn't it? To hear about a Pokemon that's gone missing. The gap of memory where once-familiar faces once resided is heavy, despite being a hole, and this situation feels vaguely familiar if only for that reason. The team must work together to find the necessary clues that will point them in the correct direction! Through their various methods, this is what they uncover:

⟡ Phantump was last spotted around Bottlecap Bay itself.
⟡ You now know more about this type of Pokemon (such as its appearance, footprints when applicable, sounds it makes, etc).
⟡ Phantump was last heard saying something about doing it all over.
⟡ Traces of the missing Pokemon were found in various locations, indicating a trail.
⟡ They're going to leave me behind.

That was weird... As you all were gathering notes, that last bullet point slipped out. But did someone say it? Did it occur as a simultaneous thought? No one seems to remember.

Not to worry, though! As that eerie feeling is shaken off, inspiration or realization hits the group, and they're able to find exactly where Phantump has wandered off to! It's inside an old attic of another Pokemon's home. Phantump can be found there, sleeping soundly. A little too soundly, in fact. You can't seem to wake it, and its body gives signs of illness, so you bring the Pokemon to the Pokeclinic. Still, Mareanie is grateful that they were found in time.

Congratulations! Each member has been awarded 50 points and a Leaf Stone!

MIGHTY MINING

The mines are a dim-lit maze of tunnels and ramps spanning beneath much of the city proper. As it's incredibly easy to get lost, Mightyena reminds all miners to stick together upon entry, and any Oran Berries spotted along the tunnels will scold anyone who attempts to stray too far from their team. Through their combined hard work, the team successfully gathers plenty of stone! Upon turning the materials in, each member is rewarded with 50 points! Thanks for your help!

OUTBREAK OF SWOOBAT!

The Swoobat are relentless in their attack when your team arrives! These Pokemon are the Psychic/Flying type, so be careful! Other teams may come in and out of battle to help with the outbreak, but the focus of any team should be largely on each other.

Anyone could wind up in a tricky situation, after all. Like Ren Amamiya, who is hit with Confusion and has to take time to recover! In addition to dealing with this, not a single Pokemon in this angry mob seems to be capable of listening to reason.

Through teamwork and battling, the number of Swoobat is greatly reduced from knockouts and retreats! Take a break and recover while other teams cover your back. Each member has earned 50 points for their assistance in battle!

RESCUE SMOOCHUM

The Smoochum can be found surrounded by angry Pokemon in the aforementioned location. It's up to your team to rescue them! In order to save them, cause the attacking Pokemon to flee or faint.

After that ordeal, the quest is a success! Congratulations! Upon returning to Bottlecap Bay, each member is awarded 50 points and a flower pin!

The problem with navigating comes with the height of these towering trees— at least for those Pokemon not blessed with the ability to fly.
