QUESTBOARD

⋆✩ quests ✩⋆

One of the core responsibilities of guild members within Bottlecap Bay is to complete quests from the Questboard. Located in the center of the city, the questboard is a physical board where Pokemon can submit requests for help, resources, exploration, and all sorts of things. Each quest rewards characters with points to not only increase their member ranking, but also raise the guild ranking, thereby having a direct effect on the direction of the game!

QUEST TYPES

LIGHT QUESTS
These quests are simpler, RNG-style quests that are far more straightforward and don't require a summary or a thread! Light quests are available every month, but during TDM months, they are the only type of quest available, meaning that nothing plot heavy or significant will be placed into the quests. They also typically reward 50 points to characters.

HEAVY QUESTS
Heavy quests are more intensive, thread-required quests that often hold bits of plot or more intrigue, and are only available every other month. They are also often more dangerous than light quests, and unlike light quests, are not guaranteed to be completed when submitting for them! Sometimes you can fail these heavy quests, and in that case, no points are rewarded. But depending on the results, these quests can reward anywhere from 100-300 points each!

ALL QUESTS
So what do all quests have in common? Difficulty levels, determined by the filled in stars on a scale of 1-3, with three filled stars being the most difficult. Difficulty can mean anything from physical danger to intensive puzzles, depending on the quest! All quests must also be submitted by the deadline date on the quest itself. Quests of both types can have different amounts of teams allowed to claim it, and the number of teams allowed will be listed per quest. Lastly, players can feel free to roleplay any of the NPCs that are not listed on the Locations page under the NPC section! If it's not game breaking or contradicting of anything in the information available to players, then we generally play by the "do what's most fun!" rules.

SUMMARY: (Optional for light, required for heavy.) How will the quest be tackled? Write a short summary of how the characters intend to succeed and include any relevant details (tensions within the team, particular skills or weaknesses, any relevant triggers to avoid, etc.)

After claiming a quest, a mod will reply with confirmation and/or more details, and may request more information on how the team tackles the quest. For quests that are limited in some way, players who manage a sign up one month will be required to wait for 24 hours after quest posting to sign up for a limited quest the following month.

PLAYERS: Bones, Mega, Merlot
CHARACTERS: Firepaw, Akechi, A.B.A
QUEST: Missing?
SUMMARY: Akechi (good cop) and A.B.A (bad cop) are going to conduct interviews with the local Pokemon, trying to see if anyone has seen Phantump and check out places they were spotted recently. A.B.A and Firepaw are also going to keep an eye out for physical clues, and Firepaw will help her zone in on Phantump's scent if/when they get close. During the interviews, A.B.A tries to teach Firepaw how to intimidate people, but he struggles with it both because he's too soft to put his heart into it and because he's a foot tall and very cute. During the physical investigations, Akechi flies overhead to look for anything A.B.A and Firepaw might miss.

CHARACTERS: Emporio, Ring Spirit, Emmet
QUEST: Missing?
SUMMARY: Emmet will be using Shadow Sneak a whole bunch to get into weird places along the search. Ring Spirit will be focusing on physical clues, but he might put up the charm (romantic) on any potential witnesses. ...However that works.
And Emporio is just using his big brain to go after this methodically- something something 'when you've eliminated the impossible, whatever remains however improbable', something.

QUEST COMPLETE

Link to thread: Here!
Are there any injuries sustained? Describe them briefly:
  • Emporio took a blow to the head while falling from the cave in- maybe check him over for a concussion.
  • Firepaw meanwhile has minor bruises from his own tumble to the cave, but came out surprisingly unscathed otherwise.
  • And then Ingo is entirely unharmed, while Emmet has a sore throat and needs some honey nomel tea.

  • How do they ultimately deal with escaping the cave system and getting home?:
  • Getting out of the cave involves relying largely on Ingo's expertise as warden, where he would help travelers navigate the cave tunnels; this experience combined with Emmet's Will-o-Wisp flames help to first locate Emporio, and then locate Firepaw, and then after everything, get back out of the caves. Emmet also innately has cave instincts, as Hisuian Zoroark live in winter caverns.
  • As for getting home, all along the way forward they set up markers- specifically, scorch marks, strands of Emmet's eerie glowing mane tied to branches, and the occasional cairn formed of stacked rocks they could find along the way.
  • While being disoriented by the fog caused trouble here, a newfound target for everyone's emotions resulted in everyone shouting at the fog as they scented their way back- sometimes manifesting as Snarl in Emmet's case. Ingo successfully performs Infernal Parade, which also helps chase lingering pokemon back, and Firepaw manages Roar. Combined with Emporio's Focus Energy to keep himself somewhat focused on the right 'target', they can at least stay on trail.
  • Fortunately for all of them, it's easier to go back the way they came on a trail that was placed, than it is to try fruitlessly to go deeper into the woods where no trail ever existed.

  • Do they gather anything from the forest to bring back, or leave it alone?: Take only pictures (with your mind) and leave only footprints- or in this case, a bunch of rocks and glowing hair (and scorch marks on the dirt). The group does not gather anything, though they've naturally done their best to take note of all they experienced.

Do they all make it out without rescue?: They managed to make it out! And with any luck, that cairn-fur-scorch trail will help find some more successful, permanent method of marking the way onward.

Or even just marking a way to Not Go Unless One Wants To Get Fog-Brain. That's Dr Denne and the Guildmasters' call, presumably.

Are there any injuries sustained? Describe them briefly: If there are any injuries, they're minor. ...crosses fingers anyway, the thread is still going.
How do they ultimately deal with the fog?: Did you know Silvally can learn the move Defog? Anyway, they push through it. Power of friendship, baby.
Do they gather anything from the forest to bring back, or leave it alone?: A.B.A has obtained and brought back a Gogoat skull, which her and Shoka will likely use to report all the bones just sitting around in the middle of the forest. A.B.A is going to try and keep it like a weirdo, so if anyone wants to take it from her, they...they probably should.
Do they all make it out without rescue?: They'll make it out! Power of friendship, etc. Shoka will be able to calm A.B.A down before things get violent, and then they're getting the heck out of there.

    Link to thread: Log!
Are there any injuries sustained? Describe them briefly: Most likely just some minor injuries from the scuffle. This is an adaptable team, and they would have tried to pack some supplies just to be safe (thread is still ongoing, though).
How do they ultimately deal with the mushroom-induced rage?: Doc would try to destroy any mushrooms/spores in range of the team and try to move out of range of the spores and urge the others to do the same. Akechi will try to use wind-based moves like Air Slash to keep the spores away from the team, while Doc asks Ren to use grass type moves to try and move or manipulate the plants. If Ren's grass type gives him a greater resistance or immunity to the spores' effects, they'll take full advantage of that fact. However, even if he does get affected, he'll he'll eventually realize what's going on and snap out of it.

Do they gather anything from the forest to bring back, or leave it alone?: Doc would try to harvest any interesting plants or objects, including some mushroom samples. It's likely Akechi would do the same if given an opportunity, along with any other interesting plants or items along the way. Likewise, Ren, being a Phantom Thief, will also grab anything interesting.
Do they all make it out without rescue?: The team does eventually make it out, however worn down by the experience. They have several ways out, whether it's Doc flinging them out as a last resort, Akechi using Sand Attack to disorient their attackers and/or Tailwind to help them all move faster. I believe that with their coordination, they'll be able to make it back to town without needing a rescue, though they may need to drop by the clinic after the fact.

PLAYERS: Bones, Tanuki, Mega and Cha
CHARACTERS: Firepaw, Junpei, Akechi and Ren
    QUEST: Exploration: Northern Forest
SUMMARY: First of all, masks! All of them are going to seek out face coverings that are meant for their face shape, except Akechi who is going to use his scarf. Firepaw has been burnt badly by getting separated during his last exploration quest, so he's going to be very careful about making sure they all stay together. Since Akechi wouldn't be as comfortable staying on the ground with them, Firepaw's plan is to jump from tree to tree so he can stay near Akechi, while Ren and Junpei stay on the ground so everyone has a buddy if something happens. (If we need extra drama, Firepaw isn't used to wearing clothing and might end up knocking off his mask so he can breathe easier.)

PLAYERS: Bones, Usagi and Pyra | Elaine | Terry
CHARACTERS: Firepaw, Emporio and Anasui | Firoza | Siffrin
    QUEST: Mush to be Done

    PLAYERS: Kururu, Elaine, Dorked;
    CHARACTERS: Perrin, Firoza, Guilmon;
    QUEST: Exploration: Southern Forest;
SUMMARY: Guilmon will be ready to dig at any tunnels, since Charmeleon can learn Dig and it's something Guilmon did beforehand. He'd be trusting his sense of smell more then his sense of sight. Once Guilmon also figures out Smokescreen exists, he'll attempt to use it to out-trick the tricksters.

Meanwhile, Firoza is likely going to be a sort of navigator, using topography as opposed to trail markers. She will be also keeping a wide berth around anything visibly collapsed or unstable. She's quite used to traveling dangerous lands, being a Warrior of Light, and all.

Perrin, meanwhile, will be the kind of man who seems a bit too prepared. He's attempted to get eye gear for his partners, alongside agreeing that they need a key phase. He gives them the key word Navarro as one - it's not a word people would use, after all - to check for imposters. He will also suggest such things as tossing rocks to test for the ground ahead of them. If a bit of ground they can't avoid seems weird, Perrin will insist on going for it first. At least, at first. Since he has these wings!

Perrin is not the best at flying yet.

    PLAYERS: Usagi, Amanda, Terry, Pyra
    CHARACTERS: Emporio, Akari, Siffrin, Anasui
    QUEST: EXPLORATION - Middle Forest
    SUMMARY:
  • In terms of team dynamics, there is a general understanding that Emporio is the de-facto Leader, as he's the one with the most direct experience with the region and the world all are now in (Even if he was part of the Southern expedition originally). Emporio will in turn be continuously relying on the expertise of the others with him; Akari for her existing exploration experience from her own world, Siffrin for similar, and Anasui because he's very tall and can see much better than all three of them here.
  • Worth noting that a fall from their height is like, a tiny step for Anasui too, so that's a factor. Anyway-
  • For the most part, Anasui will be in the middle of the group, in such a way that all members of the party are able to see at least two pokemon at any given time. If, for whatever reason, the team begins to slow down, he's going to grab each of them and put them on his back. Baby Jail. Should this occur, Emporio still gets the right to direct which way they go (though Emporio will still defer to the experience of the others if they have not been obviously compromised. More on that below.)
  • REGARDING HALLUCINATIONS CAUSED BY FOG - Siffrin has prior experience having hallucinations, which is worth noting- both in regard to susceptibility, and in coping. The others meanwhile have been properly sleeping per prior event notes, and aside from Anasui suffering a mild headache, all seems well. In particular, Akari will be quick to signal to others if something seems amiss with another member of the party.
  • Due to the above, there is the Fun Risk of Siffrin seeing a REAL DANGER and assuming it is not real. Yay! If that happens, Anasui WILL start a fight, and the kids WILL have to break that up. It's fine they're fine mom and dad are fighting we guess.
  • REGARDING LOW LIGHT CONDITIONS AND FOG - As none of them can use defog, and all are smart enough to know you can't just blow fog away without that (not that it stops Anasui from the occasional flap when the fog is Too Close), their focus will be on keeping light of some kind with them at all times. Akari in particular will use the flame of her back to help light the way (and may even try sitting on Anasui's head. Look at her. She's a light house). Emporio meanwhile, will prepare a torch in advance to light with that same flame, giving them two flame related sources of light. Siffrin is already used to low-light conditions (and for that matter, Shinx physically glow when they feel endangered, which makes More light!)
  • REGARDING STEEP INCLINES AND DROPS - As Akari and Emporio have the primary light sources, Emporio will at all times be near to Anasui, while Akari will alternate between scouting a small distance ahead and returning- she will never move entirely out of sight (light-wise), and make loud calls to ensure she is always heard. Siffrin may or may not go with her during these scouting stretches. This means they can safely locate potential falls, or even enemy pokemon- it also means it's possible for Anasui to very easily grab and catch them before danger truly befalls them, as he is equipped with Ally Switch.
  • Obviously, if everyone is in baby jail, no scouting is happening at all! Instead, Anasui will periodically kick stones ahead and listen for how they fall; this is a trick that will safely determine if a ledge is ahead, and as well, how far down the fall will be.
