QUESTBOARD
⋆✩ quests ✩⋆
One of the core responsibilities of guild members within Bottlecap Bay is to complete quests from the Questboard. Located in the center of the city, the questboard is a physical board where Pokemon can submit requests for help, resources, exploration, and all sorts of things. Each quest rewards characters with points to not only increase their member ranking, but also raise the guild ranking, thereby having a direct effect on the direction of the game!
QUEST TYPES
LIGHT QUESTS
These quests are simpler, RNG-style quests that are far more straightforward and don't require a summary or a thread! Light quests are available every month, but during TDM months, they are the only type of quest available, meaning that nothing plot heavy or significant will be placed into the quests. They also typically reward 50 points to characters.
HEAVY QUESTS
Heavy quests are more intensive, thread-required quests that often hold bits of plot or more intrigue, and are only available every other month. They are also often more dangerous than light quests, and unlike light quests, are not guaranteed to be completed when submitting for them! Sometimes you can fail these heavy quests, and in that case, no points are rewarded. But depending on the results, these quests can reward anywhere from 100-300 points each!
PLAYER QUESTS
These are quests submitted by other players, available as players come up with them. A player may submit a quest during any month, and may even post the same quest again on a subsequent month, when it makes sense ICly to do so. They are otherwise very similar to Light Quests; more information can be found below, but as a rule, they reward 50 points to characters.
ALL QUESTS
So what do all quests have in common? They must be submitted by the deadline date on the quest itself, and each character may claim points from a given quest only once, though they may repeat the quest with other teams as many times as they like.
Mod quests in particular will have difficulty levels, determined by the filled in stars on a scale of 1-3, with three filled stars being the most difficult. Difficulty can mean anything from physical danger to intensive puzzles, depending on the quest! Mod quests of both types may also sometimes have claim limits, with the number of teams allowed listed per quest.
Lastly, players can feel free to roleplay any of the NPCs that are not listed on the Locations page under the NPC section! If it's not game breaking or contradicting anything in the information available to players, then we generally play by the "do what's most fun!" rules.

PLAYER QUESTS
Player Quests are now open! These are quests ICly posted by your character to any of Bottlecap Bay's quest boards. They may be quests that are meant for the benefit of the city (or outlying outposts, or good relations with local Pokemon), or they may be quests for a character's personal concerns... and even joke quests are very welcome, for CR purposes!
(Just keep in mind IC reactions while devising a quest - guild leaders may choose not to reward points for "come perform a handstand for me," and there may be negative consequences for posting "assassinate my annoying guild coworker!")
Some general guidelines:
- To respond to a player quest, other players may use the same submission form as for mod quests; they do not have to provide a thread, but do have to fill out the summary.
- For all quests, quests may reward 50 points! Points track how helpful a character is overall, so they may be awarded for (reasonable, non-joke) personal quests as well!
- For quests for the benefit of Bottlecap Bay, guild leaders will generally also allow for item rewards from guild resources. These rewards should be restricted to a single item or type of item chosen by the quest-writing player, and can be one of: berries, basic stones, basic accessories (with no special effects), or small furniture items. A character may also offer handmade items that they are able to make/obtain the resources for.
- For personal quests, guild leaders will not allow for item rewards from guild resources... but a character may still offer handmade items that they are able to make/obtain the resources for!
- Characters who are ICly posting the quest obviously cannot join their own quest! However, at mod discretion, posting a quest may result in extra points in the next point tally, particularly if the quest is for the benefit of Bottlecap Bay - the guild leaders will reward someone looking out for the success of the city.
- Quests may not have limited entry slots.
- Quest-writing players will decide whether responses pass or fail. (They may choose to respond with a blurb with more flavor details, or just a note saying pass/fail.)
- Posted rewards will be fully awarded regardless of pass/fail. If a quest says the reward is 50 points and a berry, then even failing teams will get those rewards.
- It is fine for personal quests to have a biased pass/fail outcome for CR purposes, such as a designated team being pre-arranged to be the only one who succeeds. However, this must be made clear beforehand OOCly, and the above point must be followed.
- Players may decide whether their quest is worth 50 points or 0 points. We're trusting players to use their best judgement! (ICly, points are always awarded by the guild leaders, but will still be awarded for non-joke personal quests that take effort. For example: "My important item is missing, please help me search the woods" or "I want to make a feast to cheer up my friend but I don't know how to cook, please help.")
- If a player would like to have their character ICly post a problematic quest and receive consequences from their guild leader, please contact the mods on the mod contact beforehand! (This is for quests that would be viewed as actively harmful, rather than silly ones.)
- Players may not have their own characters, even their other character, submit for a quest that they posted.
SUBMISSION FORMAT
Please use the following format to set up a player quest!
If you would like, you may also use the following format when responding with quest results (but this is not required)!
QUEST SIGN-UP
To claim and sign up for a quest, simply fill out the form below and reply to the current month's thread for mod quests, or to the individual quest for player quests. All quests require at least 2 characters to complete, with no maximum unless specified. Keep in mind that for quests requiring threading, 3 is probably a good number. Multiple quests can be signed up for in one comment.
PLAYERS: Players involved.
CHARACTERS: Characters involved. (2 minimum)
QUEST: Name of the quest you're signing up for.
SUMMARY: (Optional for light, required for heavy or player quests.) How will the quest be tackled? Write a short summary of how the characters intend to succeed and include any relevant details (tensions within the team, particular skills or weaknesses, any relevant triggers to avoid, etc.)
After claiming a quest, a mod will reply with confirmation and/or more details, and may request more information on how the team tackles the quest. For quests that are limited in some way, players who manage a sign up one month will be required to wait for 24 hours after quest posting to sign up for a limited quest the following month.

CHARACTERS: Flowey, Akechi, Ren
QUEST: Is Anyone Out There?
SUMMARY:
The Flowey Detective Agency is at it again, this time exploring the Southern Forest! All of them have experience exploring this place and are mostly used to its many tricks and oddities. (Maybe it being post-Halloween has calmed some of the local ghosts down?)
Specifically, they'll be searching the underground tunnels where Flowey first appeared during the May TDM-- Flowey is still curious about that place! Ren and Flowey have Grass-type coverage if any Diglett or Dugtrio try to give them trouble. Akechi is wearing his safety goggles and has the power of flight to help them escape in a hurry if needed.
QUEST COMPLETE (cw: blood)
The tunnels under the Southern Forest are surprisingly quiet today - the Diglett and Dugtrio seem calmer than they were before Spiritomb was defeated, and more willing to flee battles if they're encountered at all. This gives the Flowey Detective Agency room to properly investigate the area, and they run across a few clues. Some bloody clumps of fur from an Alolan Ninetails, next to what looks like... bloody vomit, in too small of a pool to come from the Ninetails. Hey, wasn't there a very aggressive Noibat wandering around the area back then? It also seems that while these clues are old, they don't look anywhere near as old as they should be... does that mean those Pokemon are still out there, or is time being weird again?
While there are bloody paw prints from the Ninetails heading further into the tunnels, following them only leads the team back toward the entrance they came in from, and afterward it's impossible to follow. When they make their report later, Fireheart admits that he doesn't recognize either of the Pokemon they mentioned, but he's very grateful for their effort! Each of the team members has earned 50 points and Fireheart's gratitude!

CHARACTERS: Noelle, Umemiya, Bigby
QUEST: Is Anyone Out There?
SUMMARY: Noelle is on somewhat shaky CR ground with Umemiya and Bigby, and she's still in recovery (discharged from the Clinic though!), but she insists on tagging along when she hears about this quest. She met people from home who appeared but never returned, as did Umemiya.
They plan to search the Coast, where Noelle and Umemiya appeared for the first time in this world. The two of them also met people from home there-- Noelle met Ralsei, an Umbreon, and Umemiya met Endo, a shiny Thievul.
Bigby has done missing Pokemon quests near the Coast and is familiar with the area. Additionally, Bigby is also using this as tracking training for Umemiya, who is going to try not to rely on his Aura Sense too much.
Maybe they even try to find some of the oddly-colored Sandygasts and question them, but they very likely don't know anything.
QUEST COMPLETE
It's normal for the coastline to be relatively safe, aside from the Bay citizens who are enjoying their time on the beach. Unfortunately, the muddled smells and activity from all the Pokemon who frequent this area makes it very difficult to pick up scents, but Bigby manages to catch the scent of a Thievul further down the coastline. The scent gets easier to parse the longer they walk, and Umemiya eventually recognizes that it's definitely Endo's... but right when it seems like they're getting close, they realize that they've come right back to the public part of the beach.
The traces of Ralsei are... much stranger. The local Sandygasts insist that he made it into town, and they never saw him leave. One of the local cafes has a few Pokemon who remember seeing him hanging around Flowey, right before Kris made a dramatic exit by eating cake meant for Ralsei and blinking out of existence. After that, every staff member seems to have a wildly different story about what happened - either Ralsei left with Flowey, left alone, or he was the one who ate the cake and disappeared.
When they make their report later, Fireheart seems very antsy, even though he didn't end up meeting either of these Pokemon. He admits that he was really hoping that if they found Ralsei and Endo, one of them would have seen Jayfeather while they were out there. Still, he thanks everyone profusely for the effort! Each of the team members has earned 50 points and Fireheart's gratitude!

CHARACTERS: Anasui, Siffrin (Shinx)
QUEST: Is Anyone Out There?
SUMMARY: Siffrinx and Anasui are here to help search! Siffrin has no particular destination in mind (besides maybe not the ocean) - the feelings of "hang on, wasn't there a Pokemon...?" they have mostly seem to center around town. Maybe there was someone in the forest, way back when they first showed up? Anasui also isn't picky. So this might end up being a question of where Fireheart sends them.
Regardless, Siffrin mostly has familiarity with the Bay (and surroundings) and their nose to contribute! They have been giving it a workout recently, what with tracking Noelle, so they are in practice at least. And Anasui is observant and able to pick up on small traces!
As for how they get along... well. The last time they interacted was positive! But that was also before Siffrinx's identity crisis, so at this point it's kind of up in the air. They are very good at being annoying now, and Anasui doesn't have a lot of patience... but who knows!
QUEST COMPLETE
Fireheart ends up sending Siffrin and Anasui out to the Middle Woods, looking for traces of missing Pokemon. It's easier here than anywhere else, since wild Pokemon are still a relatively uncommon sight and thus clues are less likely to be disturbed. Although this also means that a lot of stale scent-trails from the existing newcomers are still hanging around. Usually stale, at least, although they occasionally get weirdly strong for a while. As if one of the guild members had just passed through.
While they're searching around, they manage to find a clump of Poochyena fur and a separate tuft of Zoroark fur that doesn't look or smell like Emmet's. Both are hard to track, but they seem to lead back into town. Asking around, the native Pokemon remember seeing a Poochyena wind up in the Clinic after Akechi helped him out of the woods, but no one has any idea who the Zoroark is. Either they didn't make it into town, or they were disguised when they did.
When they return, Fireheart bounces with excitement as soon as they mention the Poochyena. He didn't catch the man's name, but he remembers treating him, and he knows the Clinic must have some record of him. Except... they don't. Some of the Clinic staff remember him as well, but none of them have any idea what could have happened to his medical charts. Still, this feels like the closest thing to a success so far! Both team members have received 50 points and Fireheart's gratitude!

CHARACTERS: Shoka, Laios
QUEST: Is Anyone Out There?
SUMMARY: Shoka and Laios are pairing up for a search mission! Through the power of blossoming friendship and shared love of Fireheart, they’ll surely bring back some good news. Unfortunately, Shoka is still facing her demons this month, but Laios will indirectly lighten up the mood by yapping about his official apprentice status. (She might be a little jealous.)
Laios will suggest searching around the outskirts of Death Blood Murder Skull Town as the most recent arrival spot for newcomers. He’s hoping that any clues will still be fresh enough to follow, with Shoka not-so-subtly keeping her eye out for anything related to that shiny Murkrow she’s run into twice now. Both of them also hung around Skull Town quite a bit during the festival, so they’ll have some decent familiarity with the area and locals, who might have something to share.
At this point, Laios is a pretty solid tracker, and Shoka has a strong nose herself, so they’ll probably be able to do a wide sweep of the tall grass. Hopefully their good friend Malamar won’t be interrupting anything this time. Shoka’s ability to Shadow Sneak into tighter spots might also be useful if they look into any burrows or the like. If all else fails, Laios has Roar to help bring out any Pokémon from hiding (or knock back any enemies they encounter).
QUEST COMPLETE
Laios is correct in that the scent-trails around Death Blood Murder Skull Town are much easier to follow than anyone else - unfortunately, being this close to a settlement means that they're often overlapped by scent-trails from native Pokemon going about their business. Still, the team are able to lock onto a few scents that seem promising, with some guidance from Fireheart of Pokemon he saw in town but who didn't follow them back to the Bay.
One of the scent-trails they follow belongs to a Buneary, which guides them into town briefly and then straight back out into the tall grass. After that, it seems to just send them in a circle for a while, before they realize that this circle just is what's left of the scent-trail, and it doesn't lead them anywhere else.
A different scent-trail has them following a Litwick, and their path is littered with spilled candle-wax. In certain spots, the grass is still recovering from being burnt, but thankfully the damage didn't seem to spread very far. A few of the Pokemon in town recognize her description, and that they saw her speaking to the Buneary... but no one can remember exactly where either of them ended up.
When they return to Fireheart, he's a little nervous to admit that he saw the Buneary. Very briefly, but he thinks just his appearance scared the poor thing out of town. It's weighing heavily on him that something might have happened to them after that, but he's trying his best not to bring the mood down. Both team members have received 50 points and Fireheart's gratitude!

CHARACTERS: Emporio, Ring Spirit
QUEST: Is Anyone Out There?
SUMMARY: Ring Spirit has a particular attachment to the woods, given their association with Spiritomb. While Emporio hasn't got anyone in mind to look for, both of them are incredibly familiar with the woods at least (Ring Spirit especially so), but given the Southern Woods has already been searched, will be focusing their efforts on the Middle. Hopefully, Emporio being Ground type (and therefore somewhat more approachable to other Ground Pokemon in the area) will help.
QUEST COMPLETE (cw: vomit)
The Middle Forest is relatively quiet today - it's still taking a while for wild Pokemon to repopulate the area, which makes it easy enough to follow trails undisturbed. Which, oddly enough, they don't have to rely on scent-trails this time to find clues. There is a path of gold coins wandering through the area. Usually in small piles, but occasionally just singular doubloons. The wild Pokemon in the area are aware of these - and relatively willing to talk, if a bit stand-offish - but they see no point in collecting Gholdengo vomit. So it's just sitting there.
The path leads into town, but there is a point in cleaning up vomit once it ends up on city streets, which means that their trail has dried up. Luckily for them, Emporio remembers seeing him at the Clinic! Unluckily for them, while he certainly made an impression on the Clinic staff, none of them know where he ended up. He checked out of his volunteer shift one day and no one saw him afterward.
When they return to Fireheart, he's started getting antsy about how many Pokemon seem to make it into town and just vanish. He has to pace around the room while they're debriefing, but he thanks them profusely for their efforts anyway. Both team members have earned 50 points and Fireheart's gratitude!
