QUESTBOARD

⋆✩ quests ✩⋆

One of the core responsibilities of guild members within Bottlecap Bay is to complete quests from the Questboard. Located in the center of the city, the questboard is a physical board where Pokemon can submit requests for help, resources, exploration, and all sorts of things. Each quest rewards characters with points to not only increase their member ranking, but also raise the guild ranking, thereby having a direct effect on the direction of the game!

QUEST TYPES

LIGHT QUESTS
These quests are simpler, RNG-style quests that are far more straightforward and don't require a summary or a thread! Light quests are available every month, but during TDM months, they are the only type of quest available, meaning that nothing plot heavy or significant will be placed into the quests. They also typically reward 50 points to characters, but occasionally reward 100 points.

HEAVY QUESTS
Heavy quests are more intensive, thread-required quests that often hold bits of plot or more intrigue, and are only available every other month. They are also often more dangerous than light quests, and unlike light quests, are not guaranteed to be completed when submitting for them! Depending on the results, these quests can reward anywhere from 200-300 points each depending on success! Characters may only participate in one heavy quest per month.

PLAYER QUESTS
These are quests submitted by other players, available as players come up with them. A player may submit a quest during any month, and may even post the same quest again on a subsequent month, when it makes sense ICly to do so. They are otherwise very similar to Light Quests; more information can be found below, but as a rule, they reward 50 points to characters.

ALL QUESTS
So what do all quests have in common? They must be submitted by the deadline date on the quest itself, and each character may claim points from a given quest only once, though they may repeat the quest with other teams as many times as they like.

Mod quests in particular will have difficulty levels, determined by the filled in stars on a scale of 1-3, with three filled stars being the most difficult. Difficulty can mean anything from physical danger to intensive puzzles, depending on the quest! Mod quests of both types may also sometimes have claim limits, with the number of teams allowed listed per quest.

Lastly, players can feel free to roleplay any of the NPCs that are not listed on the Locations page under the NPC section! If it's not game breaking or contradicting anything in the information available to players, then we generally play by the "do what's most fun!" rules.

AVAILABLE QUESTS
OVER THE BRINK
QUEST TYPE: HEAVY
QUEST GIVER: Polteageist
CLAIM LIMIT: None
DIFFICULTY: ★★✩
THREAD REQUIRED?: Yes
DEADLINE: Must be submitted by APRIL 14th 11:59 PM EST.

We are facing an unprecedented circumstance as numerous Lum Researchers tasked with making contact with a Pokemon known as Decidueye have since gone entirely missing. Our witness and local guide, Chimecho, states that she was leading them through the area beyond the cliffs when they were set upon by a thick, heavy fog, not unlike what recently blanketed our forest region and bay. We have little understanding of what to expect. While Pokemon taking up this quest will be teleported in with the Lum's prototype room, after retrieving the Lum Research team, Pokemon must be prepared to make their own way back to the Bay through unknown and possibly dangerous terrain. Prepare for anything - adaptation will be key.

POINTS REWARDED: 300 points (200 points for failure)
EXTRA REWARDS?: Potential for plot information (if successful), risk of consequence (nothing to ever ruin your time in game).
NOTES:Please use the summary section to fill out how your character will prepare for this quest. Information on what the team will encounter will be presented in their reply. While we will use a super-secret rubric to decide success/failure based on later summaries, your beginning advice is to prioritize the potential to adapt to any given terrain.

QUEST TYPE: LIGHT
QUEST GIVER: Electrode

DIFFICULTY: ★✩✩
THREAD REQUIRED?: No
DEADLINE: Must be submitted by APRIL 25th 11:59 PM EST.

Some of the rescued Minior from last month have been able to make their own way back to the sky, but others still need a little help. We need Pokemon to help construct two large catapults for launching Minior into the upper atmosphere... and others to man the devices when they're constructed! (Alternate methods of launching Minior are also welcome.)

POINTS REWARDED: 50 points
EXTRA REWARDS?: None.

DEADLINE: Must be submitted by APRIL 25th 11:59 PM EST.

Lately, there have been all kinds of Pokemon attacking the city from the cliffs! They seem to look different somehow, but that doesn’t make them any less dangerous! Please help fight them off!

PLAYER QUESTS
Player Quests are now open! These are quests ICly posted by your character to any of Bottlecap Bay's quest boards. They may be quests that are meant for the benefit of the city (or outlying outposts, or good relations with local Pokemon), or they may be quests for a character's personal concerns... and even joke quests are very welcome, for CR purposes!

(Just keep in mind IC reactions while devising a quest - guild leaders may choose not to reward points for "come perform a handstand for me," and there may be negative consequences for posting "assassinate my annoying guild coworker!")

Some general guidelines:

  • To respond to a player quest, other players may use the same submission form as for mod quests; they do not have to provide a thread, but do have to fill out the summary.
  • For all quests, quests may reward 50 points! Points track how helpful a character is overall, so they may be awarded for (reasonable, non-joke) personal quests as well!
  • For quests for the benefit of Bottlecap Bay, guild leaders will generally also allow for item rewards from guild resources. These rewards should be restricted to a single item or type of item chosen by the quest-writing player, and can be one of: berries, basic stones, basic accessories (with no special effects), or small furniture items. A character may also offer handmade items that they are able to make/obtain the resources for.
  • For personal quests, guild leaders will not allow for item rewards from guild resources... but a character may still offer handmade items that they are able to make/obtain the resources for!
  • Characters who are ICly posting the quest obviously cannot join their own quest! However, at mod discretion, posting a quest may result in extra points in the next point tally, particularly if the quest is for the benefit of Bottlecap Bay - the guild leaders will reward someone looking out for the success of the city.
To keep things fair and also manageable for the mods, at the moment the below are the policies for player quests. These may be updated in the future if we run into any problems!

  • Quests may not have limited entry slots.
  • Quest-writing players will decide whether responses pass or fail. (They may choose to respond with a blurb with more flavor details, or just a note saying pass/fail.)
  • Posted rewards will be fully awarded regardless of pass/fail. If a quest says the reward is 50 points and a berry, then even failing teams will get those rewards.
  • It is fine for personal quests to have a biased pass/fail outcome for CR purposes, such as a designated team being pre-arranged to be the only one who succeeds. However, this must be made clear beforehand OOCly, and the above point must be followed.
  • Players may decide whether their quest is worth 50 points or 0 points. We're trusting players to use their best judgement! (ICly, points are always awarded by the guild leaders, but will still be awarded for non-joke personal quests that take effort. For example: "My important item is missing, please help me search the woods" or "I want to make a feast to cheer up my friend but I don't know how to cook, please help.")
  • If a player would like to have their character ICly post a problematic quest and receive consequences from their guild leader, please contact the mods on the mod contact beforehand! (This is for quests that would be viewed as actively harmful, rather than silly ones.)
  • Players may not have their own characters, even their other character, submit for a quest that they posted.

SUBMISSION FORMAT
Please use the following format to set up a player quest!

If you would like, you may also use the following format when responding with quest results (but this is not required)!

QUEST SIGN-UP

To claim and sign up for a quest, simply fill out the form below and reply to the current month's thread for mod quests, or to the individual quest for player quests. All quests require at least 2 characters to complete, with no maximum unless specified. Keep in mind that for quests requiring threading, 3 is probably a good number. Multiple quests can be signed up for in one comment.

PLAYERS: Players involved.
CHARACTERS: Characters involved. (2 minimum)
QUEST: Name of the quest you're signing up for.
SUMMARY: (Optional for light, required for heavy or player quests.) How will the quest be tackled? Write a short summary of how the characters intend to succeed and include any relevant details (tensions within the team, particular skills or weaknesses, any relevant triggers to avoid, etc.)

After claiming a quest, a mod will reply with confirmation and/or more details, and may request more information on how the team tackles the quest. For quests that are limited in some way, players who manage a sign up one month will be required to wait for 24 hours after quest posting to sign up for a limited quest the following month.

Triangle Man
QUEST GIVER: Oko [Under the identity of Jace]
DEADLINE: Must be submitted before Feb 26th, 2026.

I'm looking for something in particular. Have you seen any triangles? The larger, the better - but small ones also interest me. Bring me to them.

POINTS REWARDED: 50 points
EXTRA REWARDS?: Information (?)

OTHER: Notably, while this quest might seem silly, Oko is using this to gague two things. Are people here aware of Omenpaths, and if there's any here. Thus, he will be ICly failing everybody, but still giving them rewards. His information will likely not be useful, but will be interesting!

He is also in the form of an Abra. At least for this first month, I do not want this to be discovered - he will be repeating this quest with changes next month, and then we can plot him being discovered.

PLAYERS: Kibi, Terry
CHARACTERS: Shoka, Siffrin
QUEST: Triangle Man
SUMMARY:
Shoka promises to lead not-Oko to the biggest triangle she's seen lately, which turns out to be Siffrin's wizard hat. Upon confirmation that this totally doesn't count, Shoka and Siffrin will both lead not-Oko to the hobby clubs' figurehead, Togetic, a Pokémon who does have triangle-shaped markings but no idea why the team is even seeking them out. Maybe they want to start a triangle appreciation club...?

After this, Siffrin will have one last suggestion: a mountain in the distance. That's definitely the largest triangle they've seen recently! Oko wanted large, right? Better start walking!

It's extremely obvious that neither member of this team is familiar with Omenpaths and they are also not taking this quest seriously at all.

You know, he expected people not taking it seriously. Why, he wasn't taking it too seriously. As he looks to the hat, and then the Togetic, the seeming Abra seems amused.

But then, they are pointed to the mountain. He follows for a bit, seeming to walk along... but at one point, the Mimikyu and Shinx will look away, and the Abra is gone. No matter how they look, they cannot find him.

Until returning back to the questboard, where it seems said Abra is sleeping. And seems confused. Hadn't they seen him with them? However, he supposes they did show him the wrong thing. So he'll give them a bit of information: There is no possible way that they will be stranded here for much longer.

(Unknown to them, this is because Oko is still convinced he has this all under control.)

PLAYERS: Elaine and Bre
CHARACTERS: Firoza and Laios
QUEST: Triangle Man
SUMMARY: The specific kinds of triangles Oko is looking for are not what Firoza and Laios will bring him to, but by gosh they're going to bring him to so many triangles. This little rock's been worn down to a triangle, there's this cool fluffy bush in the shape of a triangle, someone's etched a triangle into a log at the base of this building...

The lil rabbit and the happy dog are going to take him on a tour of triangles, essentially. Maybe Particle Man will show up, who knows.

You know how Oko was planning on just lazing around disguised as Jace, letting others take things to him? Nah. Seems he's stuck being dragged around by excitable hero-types. And there's not even a Particle Man to be found, or a Universe Man!

...Of course, if there was a Universe Man, they'd probably be fucked. But the group might notice the voice the Abra is putting on slips a bit, if only for a little. He's having actual fun.

That is. Until, they find themselves at a cliffside, with a cool rock shaped like a triangle. But when they turn, the rock itself seems to have vanished. The Abra is confused - oh, did they drag him here for nothing?

They had shown him quite a bit, though, so 'Jace' will give them some information: If they see a door out there with moth patterns, just randomly, do not touch it - even if it's a way out of here. There's an implication that it's more dangerous then the Abra lets on.

PLAYERS: Mega, Luka, Kunenk
CHARACTERS: Akechi, Parvati, Maya
QUEST: Triangle Man
SUMMARY: It’s a bit of a wide description, isn’t it? Still, Akechi will be trying to collect as many triangle related things as he can find. Maya will be looking for things that seem to form triangles naturally. Parvati has probably been roped in with the two of them asking for her opinion of the triangularity of what they’ve put together.

⟡ quest complete...? ⟡

It is such a complete collection of triangular things - and seeing how they're even getting an opinion on if they're triangular enough, the Abra is going to insist they measure each triangle again. But sometimes, when they look back at the objects they've gathered, they seem to change shape.

And they get mocked for it. That's clearly a diamond, not a triangle! However, it's clear this is some form of illusion trickery when the triangle shifts when just Akechi is looking at one.

But there's no source of where the trickery is coming from. But, they tried, and so the Abra is going to give them some timely advice. It seems this Plane - as the Abra calls it - is a backwater sort of place when it comes to the Multiverse, if there's nobody who understands what he is asking for. Perhaps it's even spark-blind...

No, he will not explain what that means.

PLAYERS: Andrea, Holly
CHARACTERS: Noelle, Kinger
QUEST: Triangle Man
SUMMARY: A student who got an A+ in Geometry and a programmer who was trapped in a digital world? Now there's two Pokemon who know triangles, or something. Really, Noelle and Kinger aren't quite sure what they're looking for, but they're going to do their best. ... However, Kinger's efficiency will depend heavily on if they search during the day or night. They'll do their best to look around in the evening and in dark places so he can mostly keep his head on straight, though it gets pretty chilly at dusk, especially for two Grass-types.

⟡ quest complete...? ⟡

While he will not say it, perhaps Oko is going easy on the two of them because of his affection for elk and deer. Thus, when Noelle and Kinger do not find what the Abra is looking for, the Abra will comfort them a little, and actually fill them in a little - even if he will try and sound rude and dismissive. The triangles he was looking for were paths back home, that exist everywhere in the Multiverse, more or less.

This is the most you get out of the Abra, and will not learn more - nor will they see the Abra around later.

PLAYERS: bread, usagi
CHARACTERS: mayaka, emporio
QUEST: UNBLOCK ME RIGHT NOW
SUMMARY: Mayaka is puzzled to see Flowey and Kris' quests on the noticeboard, and consults Bottlecap Bay's model child Emporio on the matter. While she doesn't have a great impression of Flowey, she'd much rather keep an eye out for troublemakers like him instead of ignore him. Emporio also has no plans to block Flowey, so the two of them try to seek Flowey out to ask him directly: what's going on??

[personal profile] friendlyflower 2026-02-05 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)

⟡ quest complete ⟡

Mayaka is someone who Flowey would use the Grumpearls to prank... but Emporio isn't. At least, not usually. With his (metaphorical) hands tied and the two choosing to confront him, Flowey tells them his tale of woe: tons of people have decided to block him for no reason! He did nothing wrong! (Except for the three or four times he told everyone to die, screamed directly in people's heads, tried to pry into people's minds, attempted to psychically attack others...)

Maybe they lecture him on being nicer or try to calm him down, maybe they just leave him to fume. Regardless, that very evening, their Grumpearls ping with a message. It's a short clip from the other asking for help! In other words, Emporio receives a message from 'Mayaka' asking for Emporio to save her, and Mayaka receives a message from 'Emporio' asking her to save him! Oh no!

What happens next is up to them, but one thing will become clear: neither of them is actually in danger. Both of them were just having an average evening when they received the 'cry for help'.

They may discover that this was Flowey's doing. He used his new ability to imitate voices (courtesy of SINTO's glitter) to trick them into thinking the other one was in trouble!

If they choose to confront Flowey after that, he feigns having been peacefully sleeping all night, innocent as an angel.

After reassuring Flowey that they do not have him blocked, Flowey thanks them for their "loyalty"... what a strange way of phrasing it! He then tries to talk them into giving him an 'investment' of powerful items for a solo expedition he plans to undertake. He promises to pay it back many times over. It sounds fishy, but they're all friends, right?

Whether or not they agree, they receive a strange message later: what seems to be obvious prank call on the Grumpearl. Flowey reports that he has fallen down the well while attempting to retrieve a golden treasure that would make them all rich. He found the treasure, but he's stuck and has no way of getting back up.

If they actually show up to save him, they'll find out that it was actually all true! ... Except, unfortunately, the so-called golden treasure turns out to be completely worthless. Oh, well! At least they all had the friends they didn't block along the way.

(If they ask Flowey about paying back the 'investment', he quickly disappears when they aren't looking.)

Kris nods solemnly in acknowledgement. Truly, the pearls will be a slightly safer space thanks to the bravery of these two Pokemon, or something.

After a pause of great deliberation, they pull two amazingly cool and unique rocks from their bag. Bigby and Oko can each choose from a round, flat stone or a light, porous stone. First dibs go to the fastest rock-grabber.
