QUESTBOARD
⋆✩ quests ✩⋆
One of the core responsibilities of guild members within Bottlecap Bay is to complete quests from the Questboard. Located in the center of the city, the questboard is a physical board where Pokemon can submit requests for help, resources, exploration, and all sorts of things. Each quest rewards characters with points to not only increase their member ranking, but also raise the guild ranking, thereby having a direct effect on the direction of the game!
QUEST TYPES
LIGHT QUESTS
These quests are simpler, RNG-style quests that are far more straightforward and don't require a summary or a thread! Light quests are available every month, but during TDM months, they are the only type of quest available, meaning that nothing plot heavy or significant will be placed into the quests. They also typically reward 50 points to characters, but occasionally reward 100 points.
HEAVY QUESTS
Heavy quests are more intensive, thread-required quests that often hold bits of plot or more intrigue, and are only available every other month. They are also often more dangerous than light quests, and unlike light quests, are not guaranteed to be completed when submitting for them! Depending on the results, these quests can reward anywhere from 200-300 points each depending on success! Characters may only participate in one heavy quest per month.
PLAYER QUESTS
These are quests submitted by other players, available as players come up with them. A player may submit a quest during any month, and may even post the same quest again on a subsequent month, when it makes sense ICly to do so. They are otherwise very similar to Light Quests; more information can be found below, but as a rule, they reward 50 points to characters.
ALL QUESTS
So what do all quests have in common? They must be submitted by the deadline date on the quest itself, and each character may claim points from a given quest only once, though they may repeat the quest with other teams as many times as they like.
Mod quests in particular will have difficulty levels, determined by the filled in stars on a scale of 1-3, with three filled stars being the most difficult. Difficulty can mean anything from physical danger to intensive puzzles, depending on the quest! Mod quests of both types may also sometimes have claim limits, with the number of teams allowed listed per quest.
Lastly, players can feel free to roleplay any of the NPCs that are not listed on the Locations page under the NPC section! If it's not game breaking or contradicting anything in the information available to players, then we generally play by the "do what's most fun!" rules.

THREAD REQUIRED?: Yes
DEADLINE: Must be submitted by APRIL 14th 11:59 PM EST.
We are facing an unprecedented circumstance as numerous Lum Researchers tasked with making contact with a Pokemon known as Decidueye have since gone entirely missing. Our witness and local guide, Chimecho, states that she was leading them through the area beyond the cliffs when they were set upon by a thick, heavy fog, not unlike what recently blanketed our forest region and bay. We have little understanding of what to expect. While Pokemon taking up this quest will be teleported in with the Lum's prototype room, after retrieving the Lum Research team, Pokemon must be prepared to make their own way back to the Bay through unknown and possibly dangerous terrain. Prepare for anything - adaptation will be key.
POINTS REWARDED: 300 points (200 points for failure)
EXTRA REWARDS?: Potential for plot information (if successful), risk of consequence (nothing to ever ruin your time in game).
NOTES:Please use the summary section to fill out how your character will prepare for this quest. Information on what the team will encounter will be presented in their reply. While we will use a super-secret rubric to decide success/failure based on later summaries, your beginning advice is to prioritize the potential to adapt to any given terrain.

PLAYER QUESTS
Player Quests are now open! These are quests ICly posted by your character to any of Bottlecap Bay's quest boards. They may be quests that are meant for the benefit of the city (or outlying outposts, or good relations with local Pokemon), or they may be quests for a character's personal concerns... and even joke quests are very welcome, for CR purposes!
(Just keep in mind IC reactions while devising a quest - guild leaders may choose not to reward points for "come perform a handstand for me," and there may be negative consequences for posting "assassinate my annoying guild coworker!")
Some general guidelines:
- To respond to a player quest, other players may use the same submission form as for mod quests; they do not have to provide a thread, but do have to fill out the summary.
- For all quests, quests may reward 50 points! Points track how helpful a character is overall, so they may be awarded for (reasonable, non-joke) personal quests as well!
- For quests for the benefit of Bottlecap Bay, guild leaders will generally also allow for item rewards from guild resources. These rewards should be restricted to a single item or type of item chosen by the quest-writing player, and can be one of: berries, basic stones, basic accessories (with no special effects), or small furniture items. A character may also offer handmade items that they are able to make/obtain the resources for.
- For personal quests, guild leaders will not allow for item rewards from guild resources... but a character may still offer handmade items that they are able to make/obtain the resources for!
- Characters who are ICly posting the quest obviously cannot join their own quest! However, at mod discretion, posting a quest may result in extra points in the next point tally, particularly if the quest is for the benefit of Bottlecap Bay - the guild leaders will reward someone looking out for the success of the city.
- Quests may not have limited entry slots.
- Quest-writing players will decide whether responses pass or fail. (They may choose to respond with a blurb with more flavor details, or just a note saying pass/fail.)
- Posted rewards will be fully awarded regardless of pass/fail. If a quest says the reward is 50 points and a berry, then even failing teams will get those rewards.
- It is fine for personal quests to have a biased pass/fail outcome for CR purposes, such as a designated team being pre-arranged to be the only one who succeeds. However, this must be made clear beforehand OOCly, and the above point must be followed.
- Players may decide whether their quest is worth 50 points or 0 points. We're trusting players to use their best judgement! (ICly, points are always awarded by the guild leaders, but will still be awarded for non-joke personal quests that take effort. For example: "My important item is missing, please help me search the woods" or "I want to make a feast to cheer up my friend but I don't know how to cook, please help.")
- If a player would like to have their character ICly post a problematic quest and receive consequences from their guild leader, please contact the mods on the mod contact beforehand! (This is for quests that would be viewed as actively harmful, rather than silly ones.)
- Players may not have their own characters, even their other character, submit for a quest that they posted.
SUBMISSION FORMAT
Please use the following format to set up a player quest!
If you would like, you may also use the following format when responding with quest results (but this is not required)!
QUEST SIGN-UP
To claim and sign up for a quest, simply fill out the form below and reply to the current month's thread for mod quests, or to the individual quest for player quests. All quests require at least 2 characters to complete, with no maximum unless specified. Keep in mind that for quests requiring threading, 3 is probably a good number. Multiple quests can be signed up for in one comment.
PLAYERS: Players involved.
CHARACTERS: Characters involved. (2 minimum)
QUEST: Name of the quest you're signing up for.
SUMMARY: (Optional for light, required for heavy or player quests.) How will the quest be tackled? Write a short summary of how the characters intend to succeed and include any relevant details (tensions within the team, particular skills or weaknesses, any relevant triggers to avoid, etc.)
After claiming a quest, a mod will reply with confirmation and/or more details, and may request more information on how the team tackles the quest. For quests that are limited in some way, players who manage a sign up one month will be required to wait for 24 hours after quest posting to sign up for a limited quest the following month.

CHARACTERS: Agnes, Mayaka
QUEST: Ditto to That
SUMMARY: Mayaka tags onto Agnes for this quest since she's not confident fighting and prefers to stick to those with experience! Mayaka will keep her distance with Quick Attack, and at first resort to using Scratch on any Ditto that get close. Agnes will lead the charge with Burning Jealousy and Solar Beam (one-turner due to the Drought ability), Bitter Malice (effective once Ditto transforms), and urge Mayaka to do something more than just a wimpy Scratch. With encouragement from Agnes, Mayaka learns Low Sweep, using her claws to swipe at foes' feet to topple them!

CHARACTERS: Impmon, Mayaka
QUEST: Going Up
SUMMARY: If the construction site needs Pokemon to dig up the ground to prepare it for construction work, Impson will focus on doing that since he doesn't mind the manual labour. Mayaka will offer to help out since she's got experience digging through snow, and she feels a kinship with a Pokemon that kinda looks like her. This ends up turning into a digging competition between the two competitive and stubborn 'mons.

CHARACTERS: Aelita, Parvati, Mayaka
QUEST: Steel Yourselves
SUMMARY: Parvati will focus on scouting the caves for minerals (looking out for shinies!) As the most experienced of the trio, she'll oversee safety and show them the ropes. Mayaka will use her claws to help dig up smaller rocks that look like minerals. Aelita will try to mimic the other two, and possibly learn Dig to make a little tunnel for herself to burrow into to find more minerals.
STEEL YOURSELVES

CHARACTERS: perrin and eleanor
QUEST: over the brink
SUMMARY: While not having teamed up for a quest with these stakes before, Perrin and Eleanor get along well enough that they have decided to team up for this endeavour. Their first major advantage is Perrin's ability to fly freely, giving them a quick means of escape and an easy way to return to the Bay so long as Eleanor stays nestled in his postbag. He's also gotten very used to the oddities of the world outside the Bay; having endured the fog on the last set of bounties, he's more mentally prepared and ready to head in with a clear mind. Should worst come to worst, he's also adept at surviving in the wilderness for long periods of time while navigating the terrain. They will be able to make it there and back no matter what.
Eleanor is much more combat-oriented, lacking any significant survival skills beyond being an exceptionally strong swimmer. She can manouvre through tight situations with the grace of a prima ballerina, while dishing out hard-hitting attacks. She also has Flamethrower at her disposal, atypical for a Brionne. She's mostly prepared to follow Perrin's lead, just as she did with Shoka last time, but may find herself more confidently following her own ideas. No matter how ill-thought-out they are. She also hopes to be able to use her skills in being a Big Sister to keep the researchers calm and grounded should they be overly distressed.

CHARACTERS: parvati and perrin
QUEST: not a minior matter
SUMMARY: Perrin has sent ghouls into space (kind of). Parvati is from space herself. And while she doubts they can jury rig any sort of real rocket propulsion in the time they have, she still wants to throw her hat into the ring with an idea that is just as ridiculous: a trebuchet. Why? Trebuchets are cool. Perrin agrees.

CHARACTERS: Shoka, Maya
QUEST: Not a Minior Matter
SUMMARY: With two pairs of working hands (including at least one set of opposable thumbs) to offer, this duo is willing to help out with both sides of the quest: construction and manning of the catapults! While Maya is here out of genuine interest, Shoka is here more just for the entertainment (some Pokémon just want to watch the Minior fly), but she'll still be trying her best to be a helpful partner, hoping to repay Maya for helping her out with an unofficial chocolate-making quest back in February.

CHARACTERS: archnemon, ritsuka
QUEST: Ditto to that
SUMMARY: Two tactician-mindset people team up for an action quest (and have that amusing moment that gives them both pause when it comes to who will be in the lead on the offensive, but Archnemon tends to lead off with 'after you' and more defensive minded in this case, and Ritsuka knows enough to jump in if needed), but they're both fairly adaptable as well, with their observation and general tactics.

CHARACTERS: Shoka, Siffrin
QUEST: Over the Brink
SUMMARY:
Over the many months they've spent in the world of Pokémon, Siffrin and Shoka have gained a high level of familiarity with the areas around Bottlecap Bay and built up a close friendship with each other. They have worked together many times now (both in and out of quests), forming strong mutual trust, and the many quests they've completed have given them plenty of firsthand experience with traversing the varied terrains present beyond the Bay. As a seasoned traveler, Siffrin also has years of prior experience exploring all types of terrain and will be sharing their general knowledge with city girl Shoka. They both have dealt with the fog multiple times as well and know to expect potentially mind-altering effects from it, so they will be prepared to check in with each other frequently to mitigate any effects (checking if potential hallucinations are visible to the other, correcting lapses in memory, etc.).
In regards to the terrain, Shoka being a Mimikyu has granted her a few natural advantages. Since she is a boneless creature, traversing uneven ground tends not to slow her down as much as it does most other Pokémon, and being a lightweight ghost means that she's able to move over deep snow and sand with relative ease. She also sees well in the dark and isn't bothered much by the cold. On the other hand, bright sunlight makes her sluggish and she has no resistance to the heat. However, she will be bringing along the Never-Melt Ice she was gifted by Froslass, just in case the team winds up in an arid or volcanic environment and needs some relief from the heat.
It's more of a personal trait than a Mimikyu trait, but Shoka also loves being in high places (she likes to be tall), so there will be no fear of heights to worry about if they need to explore the cliffs. Additionally, she has recently learned a new move not normally known by Mimikyu: Teleport. Though she hasn't fully mastered the move yet, in a pinch, she can use it to teleport herself and Siffrin away from danger.

CHARACTERS: Ren, Emporio
QUEST: Steel Yourselves
STEEL YOURSELVES

CHARACTERS: Akechi, Ren, Mayaka
QUEST: Over the Brink
SUMMARY: Akechi will, as always, be packing a satchel full of supplies, including berries, seeds, an escape orb for emergencies, and he'll be wearing his Safety Goggles. His flight and eyesight should help them survey the area, while Tailwind provides added mobility, and Defog can aid them with trying to clear at least some of the fog (though he doubts it will remove all of it). His attack plan will depend on what threats arise, but he does have Roost for self-healing.
Ren's bringing his little kitty backpack of supplies. Same old as always with the moves (Sucker Punch, Seed Bomb, Leech Seed, Helping Hand, U-turn, etc). Ren's gonna be using his ears and whiskers to determine positioning more than sight, if the fog refuses to lift. It's not as good as his third eye but he's trying to think of it like that.
Prior to the expedition, Mayaka will do some digging on the Lum Researchers: who are they, is there anything about them that could make finding them easier in the fog? Did they leave any initial notes about Decidueye? This info should be easy for her to access as a Lum Berry member.
In her bag will be some berries and drawings of any maps she could copy from the Archives that indicates landmarks to help them navigate their way out of the fog. If no such maps exist, Mayaka will be bring her notebook to attempt to sketch and keep track of landmarks they pass, so that they can retrace their steps. While Mayaka doesn't have much combat experience, she has the Keen Eye ability -- paired with Akechi's Defog, hopefully she'll be able to spot things through the fog that she can point out or warn her team about!

CHARACTERS: kinger and parvati
QUEST: over the brink
SUMMARY: Parvati is able to provide a good sense of navigation and heavy-hitting attacks like Gigaton Hammer, making up for Kinger's less offensive moves. She's also pretty strong and able to carry a good amount of supplies on her person with her utility belt, including her first aid kit, food, and water. She's prepared to be in it for the long haul just in case, both there and back.
Kinger's Pollen Puff for healing Parvati & Ingrain for healing himself will be useful anywhere, and his newly discovered Trick Room will allow them to slow things down and take stock of any situation. He also doesn't need to eat as long as there's some sort of soil he can absorb nutrients from, so any food resources can go to Parvati.
Both are relatively equipped for rough terrain (being a seasoned adventurer and a mushroom respectively), and Parvati's dealt with Chimecho's smoke and mirrors during the last bounties, which she thinks is close enough.

CHARACTERS: Eleanor and Umemiya
QUEST: Ditto To That
SUMMARY: Eleanor and Umemiya haven't met yet, which is funny when you consider how close they live. Both are capable fighters that should be able to take down the threat of the Pokemon hoards in good time, even if this is a case of learning how to fight well together. Umemiya has some good coverage in his move pool, knowing fighting, steel, and grass moves. Some of these render Eleanor liable to friendly fire but it isn't like he can't assist her.

CHARACTERS: Akechi, Robin
QUEST: Ditto to That
SUMMARY: While Akechi and Robin don't know each other especially well, both are keen minded individuals, and in the event that the Dittos transform into doppelgangers, Robin has the type advantage against other ghosts (albeit with a weakness too). THough neither has a super effective move against flying types, they can compensate with tactics. Akechi's support movepool grants them speed control, on top of Hone Claws providing attack boosts for his Power Trips and Roost to heal. This does present issues against any copycats, and not all the Dittos may want to change forms if they've already taken Pokémon forms that suit tem.
At the very least, Robin is accustomed to shapeshifters, so she'll adapt quickly.

CHARACTERS: Emporio, Kaiba, Catrina
QUEST: Over the Brink
SUMMARY: Despite all that happened in February, Emporio is back and ready to go! He's packing his makeshift knapsack with as many essentials as he can carry, and will even get Kaiba to carry some of them if he needs- you're using these too, probably, after all. Berries, seeds, and even a tent to be safe; this team has two water weak Pokemon on it! Beyond that, Emporio is naturally very smart, quick to adjust trajectory for an incoming problem. An adaptive mind is necessary as part of any Stand Fight, and that's no different here. He knows not just how to assess the given risks of the land, but thanks to his experience in multiple biomes (including Icefall Lake!) can potentially recognize an impending cave in, landslide, avalanche, etc. Certain weather patterns also won't miss his gaze, and as for fog? He's been through the south (and middle) forest plenttttty of times. Combat wise, he's well equipped with a lot of hard hitting moves (especially combined with things like Focus Energy), including the ace in the hole of 'Secret Power'...which incidentally, can set up for a hidden 'safe spot' in the wildnerness, as it turns out! But a lack of healing moves is why he's packing up so well. He won't be taken off guard like that again, no sir!
Catrina, who sees no issue in Emporio going for it, isn't unfamiliar with wilderness survival herself. Though hers is more about eating pinecones than actual preparation...still, she's fantastic at adjusting and improvising at the drop of a hat, and without the distraction of Froslass is a surprisingly helpful addition to the team. She might still think pinecones a fine snack (to be fair, she IS a candle...), and there could be a return of nicknaming weird remains or landmarks like a dragon with their hoard, but there remains the strength of Catrina being a fire type Pokemon capable of lighting their general way even in the fog. Fog if anything is just homey for a ghost! She's totally got this.
Looking upon this and determining that if he doesn't join in these two will get themselves killed, Kaiba is forcing himself into the team whatever it takes. An easy task, as he's the only one who isn't just a foot tall. Kaiba might be hindered by dragony instincts, but he's notoriously brilliant himself, and equally quick to adapt to a given situation. While surviving the wilderness isn't something he's known for exactly, he's no stranger to hardships, and his very scales can double as either extra armor...or even cooking pots, which makes any food situations a lot easier. He's strong, and equipped with Dragon Tail and Outrage (the latter of which will not help, but accurately describes what will happen if Kaiba is pushed to the limit), and incredibly stubborn...and fortunately for these two, actually dedicated to keeping them out of trouble. Which means he won't ditch!

CHARACTERS: Bigby and Dolly Mancer
QUEST: Ditto To That
SUMMARY: With both Bigby and Dolly being best friends, they volunteer to take on the incredibly weird Dittos that are attacking from the cliffs! There is a chance that Bigby will lose his calm should one of the Ditto decide to shape shift into him. Dolly will be there to act as support with light shield and will be learning Heal Bell during it. There's a chance that Dolly will either have to calm Bigby down or cook up Ditto with a side of toast should the worst come to pass. Does Ditto taste like berry jam or is it like Liver Pate...?

CHARACTERS: Cedric and Flowey
QUEST: Over the Brink
SUMMARY:
Considering these two characters' history, they were most certainly assigned together without their consent. That being said, Flowey will advocate for a methodical search method (combing through the forest, relying on a map and memory to determine where they've already looked), and Cedric will actually support this. Yes, this method takes longer, but Flowey firmly believes that they need more than scent trails and visual cues since the fog is tricky and can confuse search parties. After his experience with the Mega Chimecho, Cedric agrees and thinks some
magicPsychic or Ghost element is at play. Flowey will also try to use Sunny Day to see if it pierces through the fog at all; meanwhile, Cedric will fly above to see if he can spot anything. In battle, Flowey will use his newly-learned move Light Screen to protect himself and Cedric from special attacks; Cedric doesn't have much defense in his moveset, unless you count blowing things away with Gust. While Flowey leans on Swagger, Grasswhistle, and Leech Seed, Cedric has Peck, Astonish, and Gust to balance things out. The latter will also carry the former to unleash a barrage of Blast Seeds. Additionally, it might not be relevant since neither of them has Normal- or Fighting-type moves, but Cedric also has Foresight in the event any opponent is a Ghost type. Finally, Flowey is surprisingly good at dodging and will make use of this skill in the forest, while Cedric serves as an easy flying distraction with his penchant for swooping into danger at his own expense.
In conclusion, despite the fact that they barely get along, they make an impressive team when their priorities are aligned as they are here!
