QUESTBOARD

⋆✩ quests ✩⋆

One of the core responsibilities of guild members within Bottlecap Bay is to complete quests from the Questboard. Located in the center of the city, the questboard is a physical board where Pokemon can submit requests for help, resources, exploration, and all sorts of things. Each quest rewards characters with points to not only increase their member ranking, but also raise the guild ranking, thereby having a direct effect on the direction of the game!

QUEST TYPES

LIGHT QUESTS
These quests are simpler, RNG-style quests that are far more straightforward and don't require a summary or a thread! Light quests are available every month, but during TDM months, they are the only type of quest available, meaning that nothing plot heavy or significant will be placed into the quests. They also only reward 50 points to characters.

HEAVY QUESTS
Heavy quests are more intensive, thread-required quests that often hold bits of plot or more intrigue, and are only available every other month. They are also often more dangerous than light quests, and unlike light quests, are not guaranteed to be completed when submitting for them! Sometimes you can fail these heavy quests, and in that case, no points are rewarded. But depending on the results, these quests can reward anywhere from 100-300 points each!

ALL QUESTS
So what do all quests have in common? Difficulty levels, determined by the filled in stars on a scale of 1-3, with three filled stars being the most difficult. Difficulty can mean anything from physical danger to intensive puzzles, depending on the quest! All quests must also be submitted by the deadline date on the quest itself. Quests of both types can have different amounts of teams allowed to claim it, and the number of teams allowed will be listed per quest. Lastly, players can feel free to roleplay any of the NPCs that are not listed on the Locations page under the NPC section! If it's not game breaking or contradicting of anything in the information available to players, then we generally play by the "do what's most fun!" rules.

Now that the surrounding areas have been made suitably safe for passage, it’s vital that we do our part to record the unique features of each region in full detail. I will be sending various specialized Pokemon Scholars out from the Bay- and each will require a team of bodyguards to best do their work unimpeded.

Do this, and you will be rewarded quite appropriately for your efforts.

QUEST SIGN-UP

To claim and sign up for a quest, simply fill out the form below and reply to the current month's thread. All quests require at least 2 characters to complete, with no maximum unless specified. Keep in mind that for quests requiring threading, 3 is probably a good number. Multiple quests can be signed up for in one comment.

PLAYERS: Players involved.
CHARACTERS: Characters involved. (2 minimum)
QUEST: Name of the quest you're signing up for.
SUMMARY: (Optional for light, required for heavy.) How will the quest be tackled? Write a short summary of how the characters intend to succeed and include any relevant details (tensions within the team, particular skills or weaknesses, any relevant triggers to avoid, etc.)

After claiming a quest, a mod will reply with confirmation and/or more details, and may request more information on how the team tackles the quest. For quests that are limited in some way, players who manage a sign up one month will be required to wait for 24 hours after quest posting to sign up for a limited quest the following month.

PLAYERS: Usagi, Pyra, Bones
CHARACTERS: Emporio, Anasui, Firepaw
QUEST: Mystery Ghosts
SUMMARY:
  • As these three characters are familiar with working with one another, all three will be defering to each other's better judgement. However, Emporio will be leaned on for primary decision making due to a combination of experience with the South woods, and his general intelligence.
  • Related to this, but both Firepaw AND Emporio have been to the South woods before- Anasui however, as of this submission, has not. He will be prepared to grab at both Pokemon should they show signs of being misled by illusions and similar.
  • Speaking of illusions and deception, Emporio and Anasui are incredibly observant when the latter isn't distracted by romance at least. While Firepaw relies on scent to give someone away, Emporio and Anasui would rely on action and dialogue. In particular, Anasui would be quick to attack someone acting suspicious.
  • In anticipation of this battle, Emporio studied a little more on Ghost Pokemon- he's passed what he knows to the others. As well, Firepaw and he have both sparred extensively with Ingo and Emmet, who are Ghost Types. Their experience with Dark Type is lacking however, and Anasui is notably Psychic Type.
  • Emporio only has one move that can connect with Ghost Pokemon; 'Fling', a Dark move. Firepaw has Fire moves, and the dark move Bite. Anasui meanwhile, in addition to Psychic attacks, has a Flying move, and a Fairy type move he'll discover within the fight; Disarming Voice.
  • Terrain-wise, Emporio and Firepaw are both aware of the potential for cave-ins due to their prior visit. Anasui will be employing the trick of kicking stones to test the ground ahead as they move, to avoid any pitfalls. He is, unfortunately, likely to cause the ground to collapse before the others do.

    ⟡ quest complete ⟡

Setting out from under a bright clear sky, the morning light soon vanishes as the team ventures into the southern section of the forest. Dense, dark foliage stretches above on gnarled trees, and the air is thick and heavy with unnatural fog. The supernatural disorientation is only further complicated by stale blanket surrounding them, and with all trail markers useless they can only rely on their instincts.

Unfortunately for the team, there are risks none could have predicted. Far into their trek, something catches their attentions through the fog — a ruin, decayed beyond recognition, looming as a shadow. While the team no doubt recognizes the risks of such a strange view, they have little choice but to investigate. There are no other leads that they can follow, after all.

As they begin to approach the strange ruin, strange voices begin to be heard around them. Faint, and difficult to understand, the closer they move toward the ruins the louder they become. Despite this, they cannot truly make out what words are being said — nor do the voices seem to respond if the team attempts to communicate back.

Eventually making their way into the courtyard of the ruin, the voices abruptly stop. The ground shakes beneath their feet, and all three Pokemon find themselves falling through the floor with varying success in their landing. Fortunately for all of them, no one is injured. The moment they right themselves within the expansive cavern, streaks of green and violet swirl into view to cackle in front of them.

    Spiritomb, the Forbidden Pokemon attacks!

Though initially at a disadvantage in the dread ghost's territory, the team quickly rallies together to overpower their foe. After being weakened significantly by Anasui's Fairy Type attacks, Firepaw successfully Bites through the shadowy form! His attack is the final straw needed to reduce Spiritomb's form to dust in the air.

Did they succeed? Is the Spiritomb truly gone? All they can do is make their way back to Bottlecap Bay to make their report...

The battle is won, but not completely finished! Toward the end of the month, we will be randomly choosing a single team to deal the final blow to the Spiritomb - that team will get to decide their ultimate fate. If that is your team, we will reply to this thread on JUNE 24th.

Please fill out the unique form below sometime before the June 24th deadline so that your quest can be considered completed. Please note that you have flexibility and freedom in threading this quest and any related NPCs (the Spiritomb, any Pokemon encountered in the forest on the way over, and hallucinated characters seen by the team).

    Link to thread: Here
Are there any injuries sustained? Describe them briefly:
    - Emporio managed to come out of the battle entirely unscathed!
    - Firepaw ends up with slight scrapes and bruises from the fall, as well as a small scar on his back leg.
    - Anasui, being weak to Dark Type, sustains some elemental damage but otherwise is fine.
How do they handle the battle with Spiritomb?: Firepaw sustains injuries trying to defend Anasui from Dark type moves. As well, the Pressure causes both younger Pokemon to become fatiqued through the fight. Fortunately, Anasui's super effective Fairy type move is one he can use constantly through that pressure.
Do they gather anything from the forest to bring back, or leave it alone?: They do not!
Do they all make it out without rescue?: All three make it back safely, albeit a little tired (and frustrated)
