QUESTBOARD
⋆✩ quests ✩⋆
One of the core responsibilities of guild members within Bottlecap Bay is to complete quests from the Questboard. Located in the center of the city, the questboard is a physical board where Pokemon can submit requests for help, resources, exploration, and all sorts of things. Each quest rewards characters with points to not only increase their member ranking, but also raise the guild ranking, thereby having a direct effect on the direction of the game!
QUEST TYPES
LIGHT QUESTS
These quests are simpler, RNG-style quests that are far more straightforward and don't require a summary or a thread! Light quests are available every month, but during TDM months, they are the only type of quest available, meaning that nothing plot heavy or significant will be placed into the quests. They also typically reward 50 points to characters.
HEAVY QUESTS
Heavy quests are more intensive, thread-required quests that often hold bits of plot or more intrigue, and are only available every other month. They are also often more dangerous than light quests, and unlike light quests, are not guaranteed to be completed when submitting for them! Sometimes you can fail these heavy quests, and in that case, no points are rewarded. But depending on the results, these quests can reward anywhere from 100-300 points each!
ALL QUESTS
So what do all quests have in common? Difficulty levels, determined by the filled in stars on a scale of 1-3, with three filled stars being the most difficult. Difficulty can mean anything from physical danger to intensive puzzles, depending on the quest! All quests must also be submitted by the deadline date on the quest itself. Quests of both types can have different amounts of teams allowed to claim it, and the number of teams allowed will be listed per quest. Lastly, players can feel free to roleplay any of the NPCs that are not listed on the Locations page under the NPC section! If it's not game breaking or contradicting of anything in the information available to players, then we generally play by the "do what's most fun!" rules.
AVAILABLE QUESTS
EXPLORATION: RED
QUEST TYPE: HEAVY
QUEST GIVER: Polteageist
CLAIM LIMIT: 3 Teams
DIFFICULTY: ★★✩
THREAD REQUIRED?: Yes
DEADLINE: Must be submitted by AUGUST 30TH 11:59 EST.
Now that we have found the end of the forest, it is important we determine the safety of our surrounding areas from the yet to be built outpost. Having discovered three potential routes, we will need many dedicated teams to volunteer.
In particular, those traveling North should be aware of a marked increase in heat, and glimpses of ash soon after discovering the path.
Be sure to take note of as much as possible before turning back. Impossible things are afoot.
POINTS REWARDED: 300 points (200 points for failure)
EXTRA REWARDS?: Potential for plot information (if successful), risk of consequence (nothing to ever ruin your time in game)
NOTES: Please use the summary section to fill out how your characters approach this quest. A quick summary is fine! We just want a feel of the direction and group dynamic. We use a super-secret rubric to decide success/failure based on the summary, so be sure to include anything you feel is relevant - equipment, strategies, and any steps characters take to balance out their weaknesses will all be taken into account.

To claim and sign up for a quest, simply fill out the form below and reply to the current month's thread. All quests require at least 2 characters to complete, with no maximum unless specified. PLAYERS: Players involved.
CHARACTERS: Characters involved. (2 minimum)

SUMMARY: (Optional for light, required for heavy.) How will the quest be tackled? Write a short summary of how the characters intend to succeed and include any relevant details (tensions within the team, particular skills or weaknesses, any relevant triggers to avoid, etc.)
After claiming a quest, a mod will reply with confirmation and/or more details, and may request more information on how the team tackles the quest. For quests that are limited in some way, players who manage a sign up one month will be required to wait for 24 hours after quest posting to sign up for a limited quest the following month.

BOUNTY: MYSTERY GHOSTS
Setting out from under a bright clear sky, the morning light soon vanishes as the team ventures into the southern section of the forest. Dense, dark foliage stretches above on gnarled trees, and the air is thick and heavy with unnatural fog. The supernatural disorientation is only further complicated by the stale blanket surrounding them, and with all trail markers useless they can only rely on their instincts.
Unfortunately for the team, the ground is incredibly unstable. Far into their trek, the ground beneath most of the team's feet begins to rumble. While the majority of the team successfully avoids falling, Technus briefly plummets — but only briefly. Being a Rotom, his levitation allows him to quickly recover.
Far below in the revealed cavern, wisps of green and violet can be seen glittering through the dark. Like stars, they illuminate the shadows far below. An obvious trail... and even more obvious bait, but with no other leads, the team must descend into the tunnels.
Once the team enters the tunnels, an ominous presence makes itself known at the end of the trail. The closer they get, the greater the Pressure emitted from their foe, until at last the Pokemon reveals itself. Swirling from a mass of shadows, streaks of purple and green gather and form a huge 'disk' which cackles in front of them.
Spiritomb, the Forbidden Pokemon attacks!
With the increasing pressure weighing upon every Pokemon present, the team soon finds that each attack they make makes them feel weaker and weaker. It may even feel as if the battle is hopeless... but just as all seems lost, Technus gains a second wind, his attack causing the disk to disappear into fading strands of light.
Did they succeed? Is the Spiritomb truly gone? All they can do is make their way back to Bottlecap Bay to make their report...
The battle is won, but not completely finished! Toward the end of the month, we will be randomly choosing a single team to deal the final blow to the Spiritomb - that team will get to decide their ultimate fate. If that is your team, we will reply to this thread on JUNE 24th.
Please fill out the unique form below sometime before the June 24th deadline so that your quest can be considered completed. Please note that you have flexibility and freedom in threading this quest and any related NPCs (the Spiritomb, any Pokemon encountered in the forest on the way over, and hallucinated characters seen by the team).
BOUNTY: MYSTERY GHOSTS (post-thread)
Are there any injuries sustained? Describe them briefly: Late into the battle with Spiritomb, while recklessly attacking head-on with her Fairy-type moves, Shoka will get hit with a particularly nasty Will-O-Wisp and Hex combination. While Mimikyu don't bruise and bleed in the same way more corporeal Pokémon do, her disguise rag will be singed, and her true body will be subject to painful distortions and a phantom burning sensation that persist for some time after the quest. Though she won't be completely incapacitated and will be able to make it back to town with a bit of support from her teammates, she'll be forced to visit the Pokéclinic and take it easy for a few weeks while she recovers (with enough rest, the injury will heal, and the effects will fade without issue). The rest of the team suffers no significant injuries beyond standard battle damage.
How do they handle the battle with Spiritomb?: In general, the team's battle strategy will be as described in the first comment! Siffrin did get a chance to learn Play Rough, so there'll be two Pokemon with super-effective moves fighting. Spiritomb's Pressure does add to the challenge, but seeing Shoka get injured will inspire the rest of the team to redouble their efforts despite the malaise they're feeling.
Do they gather anything from the forest to bring back, or leave it alone?: While the team considers bringing back some broken off pieces of the writings and carvings in the caves, they decide against it - let's not make any more ghosts mad!
Do they all make it out without rescue?: No rescue needed! While it'll take them a while to get back to town, particularly with Shoka more heavily injured, they'll make it back just fine.
