QUESTBOARD
⋆✩ quests ✩⋆
One of the core responsibilities of guild members within Bottlecap Bay is to complete quests from the Questboard. Located in the center of the city, the questboard is a physical board where Pokemon can submit requests for help, resources, exploration, and all sorts of things. Each quest rewards characters with points to not only increase their member ranking, but also raise the guild ranking, thereby having a direct effect on the direction of the game!
QUEST TYPES
LIGHT QUESTS
These quests are simpler, RNG-style quests that are far more straightforward and don't require a summary or a thread! Light quests are available every month, but during TDM months, they are the only type of quest available, meaning that nothing plot heavy or significant will be placed into the quests. They also typically reward 50 points to characters.
HEAVY QUESTS
Heavy quests are more intensive, thread-required quests that often hold bits of plot or more intrigue, and are only available every other month. They are also often more dangerous than light quests, and unlike light quests, are not guaranteed to be completed when submitting for them! Sometimes you can fail these heavy quests, and in that case, no points are rewarded. But depending on the results, these quests can reward anywhere from 100-300 points each!
PLAYER QUESTS
These are quests submitted by other players, available as players come up with them. A player may submit a quest during any month, and may even post the same quest again on a subsequent month, when it makes sense ICly to do so. They are otherwise very similar to Light Quests; more information can be found below, but as a rule, they reward 50 points to characters.
ALL QUESTS
So what do all quests have in common? They must be submitted by the deadline date on the quest itself, and each character may claim points from a given quest only once, though they may repeat the quest with other teams as many times as they like.
Mod quests in particular will have difficulty levels, determined by the filled in stars on a scale of 1-3, with three filled stars being the most difficult. Difficulty can mean anything from physical danger to intensive puzzles, depending on the quest! Mod quests of both types may also sometimes have claim limits, with the number of teams allowed listed per quest.
Lastly, players can feel free to roleplay any of the NPCs that are not listed on the Locations page under the NPC section! If it's not game breaking or contradicting anything in the information available to players, then we generally play by the "do what's most fun!" rules.

PLAYER QUESTS
Player Quests are now open! These are quests ICly posted by your character to any of Bottlecap Bay's quest boards. They may be quests that are meant for the benefit of the city (or outlying outposts, or good relations with local Pokemon), or they may be quests for a character's personal concerns... and even joke quests are very welcome, for CR purposes!
(Just keep in mind IC reactions while devising a quest - guild leaders may choose not to reward points for "come perform a handstand for me," and there may be negative consequences for posting "assassinate my annoying guild coworker!")
Some general guidelines:
- To respond to a player quest, other players may use the same submission form as for mod quests; they do not have to provide a thread, but do have to fill out the summary.
- For all quests, quests may reward 50 points! Points track how helpful a character is overall, so they may be awarded for (reasonable, non-joke) personal quests as well!
- For quests for the benefit of Bottlecap Bay, guild leaders will generally also allow for item rewards from guild resources. These rewards should be restricted to a single item or type of item chosen by the quest-writing player, and can be one of: berries, basic stones, basic accessories (with no special effects), or small furniture items. A character may also offer handmade items that they are able to make/obtain the resources for.
- For personal quests, guild leaders will not allow for item rewards from guild resources... but a character may still offer handmade items that they are able to make/obtain the resources for!
- Characters who are ICly posting the quest obviously cannot join their own quest! However, at mod discretion, posting a quest may result in extra points in the next point tally, particularly if the quest is for the benefit of Bottlecap Bay - the guild leaders will reward someone looking out for the success of the city.
- Quests may not have limited entry slots.
- Quest-writing players will decide whether responses pass or fail. (They may choose to respond with a blurb with more flavor details, or just a note saying pass/fail.)
- Posted rewards will be fully awarded regardless of pass/fail. If a quest says the reward is 50 points and a berry, then even failing teams will get those rewards.
- It is fine for personal quests to have a biased pass/fail outcome for CR purposes, such as a designated team being pre-arranged to be the only one who succeeds. However, this must be made clear beforehand OOCly, and the above point must be followed.
- Players may decide whether their quest is worth 50 points or 0 points. We're trusting players to use their best judgement! (ICly, points are always awarded by the guild leaders, but will still be awarded for non-joke personal quests that take effort. For example: "My important item is missing, please help me search the woods" or "I want to make a feast to cheer up my friend but I don't know how to cook, please help.")
- If a player would like to have their character ICly post a problematic quest and receive consequences from their guild leader, please contact the mods on the mod contact beforehand! (This is for quests that would be viewed as actively harmful, rather than silly ones.)
- Players may not have their own characters, even their other character, submit for a quest that they posted.
SUBMISSION FORMAT
Please use the following format to set up a player quest!
If you would like, you may also use the following format when responding with quest results (but this is not required)!
QUEST SIGN-UP
To claim and sign up for a quest, simply fill out the form below and reply to the current month's thread for mod quests, or to the individual quest for player quests. All quests require at least 2 characters to complete, with no maximum unless specified. Keep in mind that for quests requiring threading, 3 is probably a good number. Multiple quests can be signed up for in one comment.
PLAYERS: Players involved.
CHARACTERS: Characters involved. (2 minimum)
QUEST: Name of the quest you're signing up for.
SUMMARY: (Optional for light, required for heavy or player quests.) How will the quest be tackled? Write a short summary of how the characters intend to succeed and include any relevant details (tensions within the team, particular skills or weaknesses, any relevant triggers to avoid, etc.)
After claiming a quest, a mod will reply with confirmation and/or more details, and may request more information on how the team tackles the quest. For quests that are limited in some way, players who manage a sign up one month will be required to wait for 24 hours after quest posting to sign up for a limited quest the following month.

CHARACTERS: Flowey, Kris
QUEST: It's! TV!! Time!!!
SUMMARY: Somehow, Flowey and Kris decide the best way to sort their beef is to own the other at TV game show-type games. They both pretend they don't care that much but give it absolutely 200%. Kris has the advantage of having been on the show before, Flowey has the advantage of probably having put up with a lot of Mettaton's shit during his resets. Who will win...... the match of the century???
(Winner decided by coinflip)

CHARACTERS: Anasui and Emporio
QUEST: IT'S! TV!! TIME!!!
SUMMARY: Emporio is going to genuinely try to be a TV star and put everything he has in to win. Anasui wants to win too but honestly with Tenna being.... Tenna, Anasui is going to be distracted trying to keep himself from killing him. This is probably for the best because Anasui wouldn't let Emporio win, even though Emporio is a literal child.

CHARACTERS: Shoka, Bigby
QUEST: It's! TV!! Time!!!
SUMMARY:
Neither one of these two has a made-for-TV personality, but after helping Tenna out with his studio previously, Bigby actually enjoys Tenna enough to be a good sport, and Shoka does love showboating. While she isn't exactly a trivia master, she enjoys games in general and loves a good physical challenge (read: beating people up for entertainment). In addition, a year of living in Bottlecap Bay and participating in plenty of battles has given her a fairly extensive knowledge of Pokémon. Bigby isn't really a trivia guy either, but he does know enough about current events (circa the 1980's) and old books/movies—and, like Shoka, he's in his element in a physical challenge.
If they can be paired up against a couple of randos, that would be ideal (this was Bigby's idea of a good bonding activity for the two of them), but they'll still be in their element and won't hold back even if pitted against each other. They can heckle Tenna and beat people up? What's not to like?

CHARACTERS: Shoka, Impmon
QUEST: When It Rains It Suds
SUMMARY:
Shoka and Impmon have never worked together before and have in fact only had one (1) contentious encounter with each other, but Shoka is determined to make the team-up work for the Siffrins' sake (and for the sake of the clinic, of course). To any onlookers, it will seem like she's mercilessly making fun of Impmon for absolutely no reason, but really she's just trying to rile him up to encourage him to put his all into this soapmaking stuff. Surprisingly, this method will actually work on Impmon, as proving a point to
the rude napkinShoka might be the exact motivation he needs to take the quest seriously.Ultimately, he'll find that he actually genuinely enjoys soapmaking. Shoka, meanwhile, held back by an instinctual fear of ruining her disguise rag during the process, won't be the best at it, so Impmon picking up the slack a bit will earn him some genuine gratitude and respect.

CHARACTERS: Dolly Mancer and Laios
QUEST: When it Rains it Suds
SUMMARY: It happened by coincidence that Laios and Dolly would meet up for the quest, Laios thinking it was a normal quest until told otherwise. Laios, upon learning that this was a quest from Siffrin, goes to put in all his efforts into making this quest perfect for them while Dolly joins in with helping him. Laios can only do so much with paws, so he offers electricity for boiling and burning to help while Dolly knows how to make soap thanks to being around medieval times. Sure, it's the animal fat based soap recipe, but it was the medieval times, cut Dolly some slack, she at least to know to make soap, so that's a plus. Ponyta hunting may or may not have happened in the making of this batch of soap >_>;;

CHARACTERS: ABA and Catrina
QUEST: When it Rains it Suds
SUMMARY: The clinic needs soap you say!? ABA and Catrina are on it! Clearly the horrifying Chanseys deserve a soap to match their grotesque sweetness with anatomically correct skull shaped soaps! How on earth did these two manage such a feat? It's a trade secret! NO ONE SHALL KNOW THE SECRET OF SKULL SOAP.

CHARACTERS: Kris and Anasui
QUEST: WHEN IT RAINS IT SUDS
SUMMARY: Kris will try to eat the soap. Anasui will use his psychic powers to keep the soap out of the kid's reach. It may take a bit of time for any soap to actually get made but they'll do their best. Eventually.
Anasui voice: "IT'S NOT EVEN SCENTED, WHAT PART OF IT IS APPEALING TO YOU?"

CHARACTERS: Emporio, Archnemon
QUEST: When It Rains It Suds
SUMMARY: Emporio and Archnemon are pretty steady quest buddies, but on top of that, Archnemon's natural interests in all things spa-related have her invested in this project. On Emporio's end, he's read a lot about soap in a book and is ready to put that to use!!

CHARACTERS: Akechi, Shoka
QUEST: December, First
SUMMARY: Shoka has enlisted Akechi's detective skills to hunt down clues for Dess. While Shoka can only offer amateur tracking skills (and an enhanced sense of smell), she also comes with some Dess knowledge from Noelle, which at least offers a small lead. Akechi will do his best to interview those around town and in relevant places and encourage Shoka to do the same. The more intelligence then can gather, the easier it will be to at least try to track her down.

CHARACTERS: Anasui and Cedric
QUEST: DECEMBER, FIRST
SUMMARY: Despite Anasui and Cedric's previous success with finding a lost Pokemon, they're still barely a team. Held mostly together by their mutual fondness for Noelle, these two will be blaming each other for not finding the Pokemon Noelle is looking for, despite it being a wild goosechase. Anasui aggravating Cedric about being unable to use psychic moves will also not help the situation.

CHARACTERS: Ren, Maya
QUEST: December, First
SUMMARY: As friends of Noelle's, both Ren and Maya want to help her out. They'll start by interviewing other Pokemon around town, asking if anyone has seen anything of a dark-coated Deerling, before venturing out of town to see if they can get some information from the wild Pokemon outside of town. Both of them are pretty capable with negotiations, so any danger is more likely to be going on a tangent. As far as tracking goes, if they get to that, they'll be relying mostly on Ren's skills.

CHARACTERS: Archnemon, Bigby
QUEST: December, First
SUMMARY: An unlikely duo willing to come together to help their friend. ‘Tis the season! Given what they both learned from the previous search party, both deduce this might be a bit of wild goose chase, but they still give it their all for Noelle’s sake anyway. Bigby is in his element when it comes to looking for people, and Archnemon’s been picking up some of her own detective skills from previous quests.
They start by gathering clues around the Bay, with Bigby keeping his usual self in check for the sake of his partner’s sensitivities toward his brand of outbursts. All the better, because the locals are much more willing to help when he’s being nice for once. Bigby’s scent tracking and Archnemon’s emotional sensing can help keep them on track once they venture beyond the town’s borders. Funnily enough, they’ve actually fought wild Pokémon together before, so they’ll be ready and prepared to battle if something were to happen!

CHARACTERS: Akechi, Kris
QUEST: Holiday Hotpot
SUMMARY: Gathering ingredients!!! They're going to do some winter foraging early in the month before more snow can pile up. Kris will dig up some roots and mushrooms (and only some of them will be poisonous!)(Akechi is not letting them submit those ones) while Akechi will be more focused on nuts and berries for sauces and spices.

CHARACTERS: Flowey, Eleanor
QUEST: Holiday Hotpot
SUMMARY: The two will be gathering ingredients. Eleanor doesn't know much about food and is willing to just trust Flowey's guidance. Flowey decides to gather some (non-poisonous) (probably) mushrooms and root vegetables. It's probably fine, right?

CHARACTERS: Anasui, Emporio, Mayaka
QUEST: Holiday Hotpot
SUMMARY: Anasui likes soup and will insist on beetroot. He doesn't particularly care about being told what to do (especially if it is wrong) but will do his best to play nice.
Mayaka might have spent her Lum allowance on nice ingredients (including Anasui's preferences)- she takes Hot Pot seriously! She'll also interject with the correct order to add ingredients, even if not asked.
Emporio's largely here to have fun; he's never done hot pot, and certainly not in this style! Since the snow is a bit much for him, he's following Mayaka's lead and using vouchers for ingredients. He can't just go out and gather! (though, if Anasui were to decide it's necessary, he'd be on the bird's back as the others do that work.)

CHARACTERS: guilmon, aegiomon, archnemon
QUEST: Holiday Hotpot.
SUMMARY: The trio will be teaming up to gather ingredients, likely mostly foraging for anything that can be found available (even if the season probably makes that harder). Guilmon will be using his strong sense of smell to sniff out tasty ingredients, Archnemon will be assisting in discerning what would be good to bring (she is a soup lover and also practically minded), bread will likely be involved in some way, and Aegiomon brings spirit, has also been training in sniffing and will use that to assist, and will likely be discovering what he can and can not eat anymore along the way...

CHARACTERS: Akechi, Ren
QUEST: What Must Be, Moss Be
SUMMARY: Akechi... is not sure what it is about moss and dragons that fit together, but he's curious enough, and Ren is all too eager to go foraging for some mossy mischief. With Ren's sharp senses and Akechi's flight, it shouldn't be too difficult for them to find a healthy selection of samples from different places in the forest. Maybe they'll even find some with interesting colors.

CHARACTERS: Flowey, Aegiomon
QUEST: What Must Be, Moss Be
SUMMARY: Go ahead. Eat his moss. His moss is really good and not poisoned or evil or tampered with in any way. You should eat the moss Flowey gathered from a surely safe and reliable source. Go ahead, do it. Are you a coward?
Aegiomon does not understand the hostility and thinks that any hesitation Kris may have is due to Kris being afraid to offend two Grass-types by eating moss in front of them.
