QUESTBOARD
⋆✩ quests ✩⋆
One of the core responsibilities of guild members within Bottlecap Bay is to complete quests from the Questboard. Located in the center of the city, the questboard is a physical board where Pokemon can submit requests for help, resources, exploration, and all sorts of things. Each quest rewards characters with points to not only increase their member ranking, but also raise the guild ranking, thereby having a direct effect on the direction of the game!
QUEST TYPES
LIGHT QUESTS
These quests are simpler, RNG-style quests that are far more straightforward and don't require a summary or a thread! Light quests are available every month, but during TDM months, they are the only type of quest available, meaning that nothing plot heavy or significant will be placed into the quests. They also typically reward 50 points to characters, but occasionally reward 100 points.
HEAVY QUESTS
Heavy quests are more intensive, thread-required quests that often hold bits of plot or more intrigue, and are only available every other month. They are also often more dangerous than light quests, and unlike light quests, are not guaranteed to be completed when submitting for them! Depending on the results, these quests can reward anywhere from 200-300 points each depending on success! Characters may only participate in one heavy quest per month.
PLAYER QUESTS
These are quests submitted by other players, available as players come up with them. A player may submit a quest during any month, and may even post the same quest again on a subsequent month, when it makes sense ICly to do so. They are otherwise very similar to Light Quests; more information can be found below, but as a rule, they reward 50 points to characters.
ALL QUESTS
So what do all quests have in common? They must be submitted by the deadline date on the quest itself, and each character may claim points from a given quest only once, though they may repeat the quest with other teams as many times as they like.
Mod quests in particular will have difficulty levels, determined by the filled in stars on a scale of 1-3, with three filled stars being the most difficult. Difficulty can mean anything from physical danger to intensive puzzles, depending on the quest! Mod quests of both types may also sometimes have claim limits, with the number of teams allowed listed per quest.
Lastly, players can feel free to roleplay any of the NPCs that are not listed on the Locations page under the NPC section! If it's not game breaking or contradicting anything in the information available to players, then we generally play by the "do what's most fun!" rules.

PLAYER QUESTS
Player Quests are now open! These are quests ICly posted by your character to any of Bottlecap Bay's quest boards. They may be quests that are meant for the benefit of the city (or outlying outposts, or good relations with local Pokemon), or they may be quests for a character's personal concerns... and even joke quests are very welcome, for CR purposes!
(Just keep in mind IC reactions while devising a quest - guild leaders may choose not to reward points for "come perform a handstand for me," and there may be negative consequences for posting "assassinate my annoying guild coworker!")
Some general guidelines:
- To respond to a player quest, other players may use the same submission form as for mod quests; they do not have to provide a thread, but do have to fill out the summary.
- For all quests, quests may reward 50 points! Points track how helpful a character is overall, so they may be awarded for (reasonable, non-joke) personal quests as well!
- For quests for the benefit of Bottlecap Bay, guild leaders will generally also allow for item rewards from guild resources. These rewards should be restricted to a single item or type of item chosen by the quest-writing player, and can be one of: berries, basic stones, basic accessories (with no special effects), or small furniture items. A character may also offer handmade items that they are able to make/obtain the resources for.
- For personal quests, guild leaders will not allow for item rewards from guild resources... but a character may still offer handmade items that they are able to make/obtain the resources for!
- Characters who are ICly posting the quest obviously cannot join their own quest! However, at mod discretion, posting a quest may result in extra points in the next point tally, particularly if the quest is for the benefit of Bottlecap Bay - the guild leaders will reward someone looking out for the success of the city.
- Quests may not have limited entry slots.
- Quest-writing players will decide whether responses pass or fail. (They may choose to respond with a blurb with more flavor details, or just a note saying pass/fail.)
- Posted rewards will be fully awarded regardless of pass/fail. If a quest says the reward is 50 points and a berry, then even failing teams will get those rewards.
- It is fine for personal quests to have a biased pass/fail outcome for CR purposes, such as a designated team being pre-arranged to be the only one who succeeds. However, this must be made clear beforehand OOCly, and the above point must be followed.
- Players may decide whether their quest is worth 50 points or 0 points. We're trusting players to use their best judgement! (ICly, points are always awarded by the guild leaders, but will still be awarded for non-joke personal quests that take effort. For example: "My important item is missing, please help me search the woods" or "I want to make a feast to cheer up my friend but I don't know how to cook, please help.")
- If a player would like to have their character ICly post a problematic quest and receive consequences from their guild leader, please contact the mods on the mod contact beforehand! (This is for quests that would be viewed as actively harmful, rather than silly ones.)
- Players may not have their own characters, even their other character, submit for a quest that they posted.
SUBMISSION FORMAT
Please use the following format to set up a player quest!
If you would like, you may also use the following format when responding with quest results (but this is not required)!
QUEST SIGN-UP
To claim and sign up for a quest, simply fill out the form below and reply to the current month's thread for mod quests, or to the individual quest for player quests. All quests require at least 2 characters to complete, with no maximum unless specified. Keep in mind that for quests requiring threading, 3 is probably a good number. Multiple quests can be signed up for in one comment.
PLAYERS: Players involved.
CHARACTERS: Characters involved. (2 minimum)
QUEST: Name of the quest you're signing up for.
SUMMARY: (Optional for light, required for heavy or player quests.) How will the quest be tackled? Write a short summary of how the characters intend to succeed and include any relevant details (tensions within the team, particular skills or weaknesses, any relevant triggers to avoid, etc.)
After claiming a quest, a mod will reply with confirmation and/or more details, and may request more information on how the team tackles the quest. For quests that are limited in some way, players who manage a sign up one month will be required to wait for 24 hours after quest posting to sign up for a limited quest the following month.

CHARACTERS: Cedric, Bigby
QUEST: Light Construction
SUMMARY: Bigby and Cedric take a belated birthday bro trip to Heavy Downmoor. Bigby's explored the area before, and Cedric is particularly attuned to finding shinies, so this should be cinch. They might be weak to Ground and Rock respectively, but it's fine, they've got each other's backs at this point. Just pay no mind to them taking a few charged rocks for themselves.

CHARACTERS: Hatenna (Archnemon) and Cedric
QUEST: Blink and Missing
SUMMARY: These two have never interacted before, but saw they were both interested in the quest and thought, "Why not?" 'Hatenna' is used to investigating, and Cedric's got a keen eye for
shiniesseeking out Pokémon at this point, so they're bound to find at least some trace of a Rotom, right?BLINK AND MISSING

CHARACTERS: Akechi, Odile
QUEST: Blink and Missing
SUMMARY: Two smartypants snoopers go forth to rescue Rotom! Both will be taking many notes, with Odile asking Rotom if it's gone missing before. Akechi will also inquire about a Rotom's capabilities to interact with electronics, showing off his cell phone (and asking if he can snap a picture as proof of their encounter).

SUMMARY: Good sweet Arceus, these two absolute gremlins have been unleashed for a rescue mission together! Catrina, being a literal candle with a flame on top, will be used for both lighting and keeping other Pokemon warm after being rescued (woe be to the unfortunate souls rescued by this weirdo). Impmon has excellent digging claws and will be using them for digging out Pokemon that were unfortunately buried beneath. Impmon and Catrina makes no promises of a pleasant rescue, there will be snark, lots of snark.

CHARACTERS: Mayaka and Kinger
QUEST: Blink and Missing
SUMMARY: Kinger finds himself once again in the Archives, doing some research on the natural materials in the area. When Mayaka finds him, he explains what Akechi told him about Rotom possessing appliances, and while he doesn't know how to build anything that complex he can build a rudimentary fan. He needs magnets and wires though, and he goes into details about how he's pretty sure he would be able to find magnetic lodestones in Heavy Downmoor, and maybe if they dug up the right kind of metal, a fire type might be able to help mold it into wires... and then Mayaka lets Kinger know that she's already seen regular magnets and wires for sale in town.
Mayaka gathers the materials and helps with the design as Kinger makes a fan that is technically functional, but would probably burn out quickly if continuously used. From there, Mayaka and Kinger will explore both places where technology is concentrated (such as the SINTO-gifted technology in The Spire, and the non-electronic kitchens) and then moving on to more natural areas where electric or ghosts types tend to live. Kinger maaay have forgotten to mention to Mayaka that Rotom is a ghost type before they're in the forest at night, though.

CHARACTERS: Cedric, Dolly, Siffrin
QUEST: Bounty: Ringing Risk
SUMMARY:
Having a better grasp on what's required for investigations now, Cedric preps as best he can for likely combat and potential bad weather. He comes dressed in his flight-friendly robe, his beak and talons sharpened in advance, and with his current moveset (Peck, Astonish, and Foresight) repeatedly practiced. Considering the amount of flying he's been doing in the last few quests, it's very possible he will also learn Gust on this trip! Recent experience dictates to him that Siffrin is reliable, and Dolly has been very kind to him, so he will be on his best behaviour to cooperate with them as the sole flying teammate.
With the potential type disadvantage looming over Dolly's head like a scythe and this being officially the first heavy quest save for SINTO, what she can provide for the team will make up for it. While not much of a fighter, Dolly does have the one healing move, Wish, on her arsenal along with accidentally learning the move, Light Screen. Besides moves, Dolly will be bringing her astrolabe along to keep track of time with as well as a form of navigation when entering the forest.
Siffrin, meanwhile, has months of experience with navigating the Northern Forest at this point and has done more "track down a missing Pokemon" quests than you can count on your front paws. As a cat Pokemon, they have the night vision to see through shadows, and if they've dealt with the forest's hallucinations, they can probably manage auditory distractions, right? If it comes to battle, aside from their favorite strategy of using Volt Switch to swap rapidly around with their teammates, they have the new and useful tricks of Double Team and Tailwind - broadly, they'll be going for making themself and their teammates extremely annoying to hit, and able to deliver their own hits more often! Tailwind is also what they'll use if this investigation ends in chasing a Pokemon down rather than combat. (Downside: they are definitely not the one spotting any streamers by the colors, in this party...)

CHARACTERS: Anasui, Nico Robin, and Catrina Calavera
QUEST: Bounty: Frightening Freeze
SUMMARY: Anasui isn't resistant to ice types, illusions, or the cold. However, he is an adaptable person who makes use of what he has and uses it well. While having no resistance to ice types, Anasui is not weak to them either and has access to Low Kick, a fighting move. To compensate for the cold, Anasui has warm clothes that he'll dress himself in and the move Light Screen to shield them partially from the elements. Anasui also is quite large with fluffy feathers, and able to carry anyone smaller than him and keep them warm. Did Anasui mention that he loves using Alley Switch, a lot? Cause he uses that move a lot, especially with smaller team mates.
Anasui's main protection against illusions is that he's paranoid as all hell. He doesn't trust easily and assumes that things that are too good to be true are. Much like how he dispels illusions in the forest, Anasui will rely on kicking rocks into illusions to try and dispel them. Finally, Anasui is both adaptable and super familiar with Icefall Lake, having explored around it and even in the secret tunnel under the lake, so he'll be well-prepared for the search.
Catrina, not only a horrid candle that can provide warmth and light to her team out in the tundra, is also shockingly armed with a rather pretty looking box full of chocolates she managed to barter for in town. Plan, what's this gremlin's plan!? Well if it's the same Froslass from September, Catrina decided the best route for dealing with things is trying to woo the snowbeast formerly known as Froslass and maybe just maybe Froslass won't curse their buns..again. Will it backfire? Don't worry about it
(do worry about it, Catrina can't flirt for her life...)Ice is neutral against Robin, but her ability to float will let her more easily navigate slick ice and deep snow. Robin's lack of Pokémon experience might be a benefit with illusions: if any of them pull from her own memories in some way, they'll be immediately out of place.
She can also deal with both obstacles by adapting her Devil Fruit powers to Cofagrigus. She can pull her allies out of the snow and switch places with them with Ally Switch, and she can use Infestation to mark the real target in a crowd of illusory ones (flavored as tiny shadow hands manifesting and crawling on the target like bugs).

CHARACTERS: Noelle and Dolly Mancer
QUEST: TOTAL WHITEOUT
SUMMARY: Volunteering to help with rescue as well as medical efforts, Noelle and Dolly are all over this quest. Despite being a grass type, Noelle loves the snow as well as having the move, Heal Pulse, to use in assisting in medical efforts. Likewise, Dolly will be using Wish (or Bibbity Boppity Boop as she's been calling it) for healing as well as Dazzling Gleam safely for lighting to see the surroundings better.
PLAYERS: Usagi and Dolly
CHARACTERS: Emporio and Dolly Mancer
QUEST: Light Construction

QUEST: Tough Luv
SUMMARY: Emporio probably shouldn't be here, but he is; he can only really contribute Secret Power and Focus Energy, maybe Headbutt, though...and well, he's weak to water, but it's in his backyard!
Noelle's rampage from last year increased her power spectacularly and gave her access to strong moves like Leaf Storm, but as a consequence, she gets tired out very easily. She's also reluctant to fight if she doesn't have to. She would probably start out by trying to calm the Luvdiscs down or subdue them in some other way, but would fight if pressed. She has access to Heal Pulse if Emporio gets hurt.

CHARACTERS: Akechi, Ren, Noelle
QUEST: Bounty: Ringing Risk
SUMMARY: The Northern Forest is not a place to tread lightly, especially on a bounty. Fortunately, both Akechi and Ren are quite familiar with the area, with Noelle also possessing keen eyesight even in the dark. Likewise, Ren's cat-like vision grants him an edge, while Akechi's flight and powers of observation will serve them well in navigating the terrain.
With his Safety Goggles, Akechi is safe from powder-based moves. As long as Ren remains a grass type, he is also immune to such threats, with Noelle's own grass typing gives her a similar edge. They will come packing ample supplies, from berries to seeds, with Noelle's Heal Pulse and Grassy Terrain, Akechi's Roost, and Ren's Leech Seed granting further options for recovery.
Akechi will use Tailwind to keep their movements swift and light. It's his goal to gradually build up Hone Claws as they traverse the area, to better prepare for a powerful foe. With U-Turn for pivoting, the team should be able to navigate the battlefield fairly well.
With his Phantom Thief jacket, Ren can blend with the dark surroundings. His and Noelle's sharp hearing will also aid in their navigation. While Akechi's hearing isn't as sharp, he can help ensure they stay on task, particularly where noise is involved.
While they don't know what they are up against, ringing makes Akechi think of steel/psychic types like Bronzong. Because of that, building boosts for Power Trip will be a crucial part of his strategy. Ren at least has some coverage moves like Bite, while Noelle's support moves will make up for any potential type disadvantage. Akechi's Taunt can limit any status-based tomfoolery, and he has Scary Face to slow down the enemy's movements. In addition to Power Trip, he has Thief as a fallback, while Ren has Sucker Punch for quick priority attacks and Noelle has Double Kick for more neutral damage.

CHARACTERS: Shoka, Eleanor
QUEST: Bounty: Frightening Freeze
SUMMARY:
After spending a couple of months in the same guild, Shoka and Eleanor have formed a budding friendship. They get along well (despite Shoka's occasional antics) and a recent team-up for a combat-based quest proved that they have good synergy in battle as well. Shoka was one of the Pokémon who helped Eleanor get her bearings when she first arrived in Bottlecap Bay, and Shoka will be working as something of a guide for her again for this quest, as she's been to Icefall Lake a couple of times now and knows what to generally expect from the terrain, weather, and local Pokémon. Both will come prepared with warm clothing and any healing items they can get their paws on.
As a Ghost, Shoka has a greater tolerance for cold weather, and she also has some experience dealing with illusions thanks to the many friendly sparring matches she's had against Oran's resident Zoroark, Emmet (as well as her own liking for using Double Team). Should they encounter any trickster Pokémon along the way, she has a higher likelihood of identifying illusions than most other Pokémon would as a result. She is more familiar with the possible tells and will be on high alert for them upon seeing the note about illusions in the quest description.
For Eleanor's part, as a Water-type, she has a natural resistance to Ice-type Pokémon to offer the team. Additionally, unlike most Brionne, she is capable of using Flamethrower, which can be used to aid the team both in and out of combat—to melt any snow or ice obstacles that impede their path, for example, or just for some additional warmth (the cold may not bother Shoka much, but she isn't immune to it).
While neither member of the team is aware of this, the description of the Pokémon they're searching for is similar to a form of Froslass—a Pokémon Shoka has some past experience with and complicated feelings toward. The Froslass who visited the Bay back in September had a strange influence over many Pokémon, and Shoka was no exception; as a Ghost-type Pokémon (and one who died in a lonely place back in her home world, no less), her natural Ghostly instincts and penchant for mischief were heightened. While the effects on her mind were not severe and she ultimately enjoyed the experience, the same could not be said of her now-girlfriend, Noelle, who was affected deeply by Froslass' presence. While Shoka doesn't blame Froslass for this, the memories are fraught, and facing a Froslass may cause her to lose her nerve, depending on the exact circumstances of the encounter. In such an event, Eleanor will evoke her responsible Big Sister persona and do what she can to keep Shoka focused and grounded.

CHARACTERS: Kris, Siffrin
QUEST: Blink and Missing
SUMMARY: Given both of their statuses as RPG protagonists (well, sort of, complicated,) this might be an easily distracted party. The Soul has to investigate everything along the way, Siffrin may or may not be having flashbacks to do with teasing someone about barrels... but on the other hand you can't accuse the Soul of not being thorough, so one way or another they'll eventually have to find Rotom??
PLAYERS: Finch, Terry
CHARACTERS: Odile, Siffrin
QUEST: Blink and Missing
SUMMARY: Siffrin is promptly getting to do a second Rotom search. They are going to absolutely hate the fact that they won't be able to pretend they Do Not Perceive all the weird repeating quests while actively doing one. Terrible. Still, if they have to be Perceiving it, there aren't many better people to do it with than Odile! On Odile's part, she'll be able to compare this experience to her quest with Akechi and question Siffrin about their previous attempt with Kris, which will be fresh in their memory. Also, it's a great way for the pair to catch each other up on things.

CHARACTERS: parvati, maya, and perrin
QUEST: Bounty: Ringing Risk
SUMMARY: The Northern Woods are a treacherous place, but thanks to Courier Six, should be an easy enough one to navigate. Granted, he isn't the most immune to the various distractions - the added issue is that he can never be sure what are genuine distractions, and what are hallucinations. Still, his ability to fly should certainly help for both long-distance navigation and, in case things go South, a quick escape.
Parvati is great at ignoring distractions from all of her experience adventuring before arriving in the Bay, as well as it being a vital skill for an engineer to have. Her practical protective gear should also prove to be a great boon. She's also a tough fighter, with strong moves in her arsenal and her type resistances far outweighing her weaknesses. As a follower, she will be heavily reliant on Courier Six's navigational skills being up to snuff to prevent her getting lost.
Maya will be doing her best to keep them focused on what they're looking for and perhaps bring some ribbons to hopefully help mark out a path? She's okay with navigating, but used to being able to rely somewhat on supernatural senses for help. But they're here for a mystery! Shadows can expect a suspicious poking.

CHARACTERS: Ingo, Guilmon, Impmon, Archnemon
QUEST: BOUNTY: FRIGHTENING FREEZE
SUMMARY:
Ingo is a good natural leader for this group's outing, as he stands as a functional adult with the needed familiarity of navigating the cold and snowy areas, and no stranger to dealing with illusions. Being used to Hisui's climate has prepared him well for this sort of tracking and experience, and he's a natural guide, and has also become very familiar with the terrain in the mountains here, having participated in mapping it as well. His part fire typing is an additional benefit in the cold conditions for himself and to help provide the group with warmth, though is also part ghost type as well.
Guilmon despite being a child, also provides additional warmth for the group. Being a pure fire type, he can weather the cold (though any water might be an issue), which will be helpful for staying power. His notable strength in having a capable nose will definitely be useful for tracking, and potentially help against illusions as well. And of course, he is very good at digging, and has some ground abilities that would come in handy.
Impmon, also essentially a child has the spirit needed for adventure (even if a bit oil on water), and likely the one needing the most looking after (to his chagrin), as he is impulsively likely to throw himself into harms way in order to protect the others, as he tends not to think of his own well-being. He rounds out the group, being a dark/ghost type, and a strong defensive type for adventuring. He only knows scratch and astonish as part of his moveset, but his claws are fairly powerful for digging as well, should any issues arise.
Archnemon will be preparing by bundling up as she's acquired warmer gear (and staying close to her friendly heat sources). She is also familiar with navigating the area, having helped create the initial maps and study them further afterward. Due to becoming more accustomed to her nature as a psychic type, she has learned to manipulate the grumpearls for small localized purposes to help the group so they can attempt to avoid notice or having to do too much speaking aloud to try and minimize environmental or other dangers (and potentially useful for dealing with illusions), and maintaining connection if they accidentally get separated. She brings most of the support abilities with her should they encounter any difficulties (this is just babysitting.). Her downside of course is if she gets waylaid by emotions while tracking them, and despite assisting with defenses for others is still more on the fragile side, but this is why one brings a team.
